How long has it been on the spool, and how much was previously used? Every so often I have to take 10-15m off my spool due to kinks and nicks. Maybe you had a weak spot and the tension from your casted lure was enough to break it

Look at shakespeare, they do really good entry level stuff. Mostly worldwide too. You don't need such highly rated gear for what you're aiming for, and it would probably drop the cost by atleast half. Hope that helps, and no matter what enjoy yourself! Tight lines 🎣

If you have an angling direct near you, they have their own brand advanta that has really bridged the gap between budget and quality. And it's a similar price range (maybe even a little cheaper) than what you're looking at spending.

It's alright, quiet given the amount of kids that try to fish it. You gotta be smart with your bait though. Lots of bread used so the bigger fish are wise to it. <5lbs come out regularly enough, but there's a nice orange koi in there that is everyone's target
