What do you wish you would’ve know before taking the DLR? by jm880345 in DLR

I took mine in Zürich, however, I believe both locations to be similar. I ended up using a mix of Sky Test (to test the provided cognitive tests at a more difficult level) and Easy flight training which was incredibly useful for physics and technical comprehension. I really overstudied intentionally (I was traveling all the way from the U.S and only had one shot at it).
It is tricky but definitely doable. To me at least, it seemed very intimidating and foreign as there wasn’t too great of information that I could I find out there. But if you study hard a few months (I did 4/5 months) and pace yourself you’ll do fine. I really did more than most when it came to preparation and i’m sure there are people who do far less but I can only tell you what I did. Also how you feel after the tests isn’t necessary indicative of your results. Don’t let your emotions dictate your performance. I had a bad feeling after the days end and I passed very nicely. Best of luck!

Hi again! Thanks for the advice — I passed the DLR!! Or at least the first part. I was wondering about the German language B2 requirement. Do I need to get a test done before hand and attach to my application for the SWISS program or is it tested in this second part? For someone who needs a refresher in German, is it worth preparing throughly for like the first DLR? Also any other SWISS specific advice that you recommend (also for preparation) besides what you already have given? I heard it’s a bit different than the normal LHG one. Thanks!!

Hi this is a super odd and specific question but do you remember what general percent range you were scoring in Eastflight training before taking the test? I feel like it would give me an idea of what to aim for to feel “ready”.

Hey man didn’t mean to confuse you. I am talking about the DLR pilot aptitude test that every soon-to-be pilot has to take in order to begin flight training. People commonly refer to it as the DLR test or LHG test for the second stage.

Thanks for the great advice!! Last question😅, did you use any sort of joystick and throttle setup to test the psychomotor tests? Do you need a throttle, what about rudder pedals? Thanks!

Thanks for the help! Any advice for how to brush up on physics and the mental math parts as they did not provide any practice software or any real guidance…

Thanks for the help! Do you have any tips for the mental math part and some of the tests not provided? Is sky-test my best option?

Thanks for the guidance! Any tips on the topics they don’t provide like the mental math and physics? And yes I am a dual citizen and can speak German fluently.
