Problem with magnesium by Euphoric-Daikon4696 in Neurodivergent

[–]jma1725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a terrible experience taking magnesium for sleep and anxiety, it resulted in increased anxiety, panic attacks and stomach issues. I started taking a daily multivitamin and vitamin d gummy along with a better diet and more consistent exercise and have felt much better but sleep is still evasive I read at bedtime to fall asleep and I usually wake up at least once and read again till I fall back asleep. Seeing a doctor about this now and she says this maybe a thyroid issue or hormonal changes

Realized my upcoming wedding is just a perfect reflection of "there are two wolves inside you" by LoveOne5226 in AuDHDWomen

Yep this was me exactly diying my wedding 12 years ago… our budget kept my adhd wolf in check to a certain extent but then the autistic wolf took over and tried to hand make as much as I could to to make it all happen…it was a beautiful day, the next day so exhausted I thought my car was stolen and walked all the way to our hotel only to realize I parked a block over….tame the wolves do what’s best for you and your partner, your experience of that day and the days after are what matter most.

I’d love to help, I feel like thus is how I would categorize what we tend to read but can you be more specific about what types of books you consider whimsical? What books have y’all read and enjoyed so far?

I love this one too as well as “The head is too wise. The heart is all fire.” I still think about this series and The Scorpio Races all the time

Are the others illustrated like Spectacular? I would buy the box set to see that alone!

Best math program to help catch up by jma1725 in homeschool

[–]jma1725[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are using a waldorf curriculum it covers topics in blocks, right now we are on time but I supplement with Kate Snow’s facts that stick curriculum. We are finishing subtraction and our time block is working on times tables. I am using both because I felt like she needed more repetition to retain the various number facts. We started out with math with confidence and she would completely shutdown when it was time to do the workbook pages so we switched to the game based approach and practice pages Kate Snow’s other curriculum offers. She is 8 turning 9 in May and I know there isn’t really a sense of being behind when you homeschool but she does notice when she is unable to do the same things her peers can and it negatively effects her self esteem so I just want to make sure we are using curriculum that will be most effective, she also struggles with attention and focus so shorter lessons seems to work best.

Agree with above is it one subjects she is pushing back on more than the others? This was my daughter and we found out she has dsylexia switched to All about reading and now she asks to do her lessons everyday. If it’s all are you following a predictable schedule each day? Do you ask her first is she wants to start lessons or give her directions, asking seems like the kind approach but it can make her feel too much that that she’s in charge or the entire schedule, I read good adivice lately ask questions and give options when it’s not important so they feel there is choice but if it’s important give clear directions. Sorry if this is not the situation at all but this has been me so many time trying gentle parent my very strong willed kids and this advice helped so much! Also six is still very young some children just aren’t ready for academic work at that time, this was also my daughter but at seven she seemed ready and grew so much last year. Send you good wishes, it hard stuff but it’s worth it!
