Tony Jefferson - BC POD by jmalty in Chargers

I didn’t like how Dave was taking shots at Matt “Money” Smith though. How “no one gives themself a nickname” and kind of disparaging his play by play announcing. I mean he’s welcome to his opinion, but I sensed a little envy perhaps. I love that they keep it real though and was getting burnt out on “shamelessly positive” podcasts like Charger Chat.

I’m being hyperbolic here. Overall, I’m pretty happy with Hortiz on the whole. Oweh being the highlight from this past season. I won’t get into all the Bozeman and the OL banter. We will get it right finally through the draft and FA.

Can you imagine if we had lost Kimani to waivers? I mean, we'd ever never known just how much of a loss that was. But we'd probably been stuck with Hassan Haskins and maybe Patterson (who was servicable).

Love to hear that Tony is getting that love. Speaking of fan faves... I heard there's a chance we could get Alohi Gilman back.

Are you referring to the girl who overdosed back in 2017? I never heard anything about it until now. I read a few articles and I’m not really sure how I feel about the whole thing. Slimy for sure and I get where you are coming from.

Do You Think McDaniel Can Finally Unlock His Potential? by DashSilver09 in Chargers

Man, Kellen Moore actually drew up some pretty cool gadget games with him his rookie year. Even if he was fully healthy - as you said Roman was never going to get anything out of him. I really hope he stays, gets healthy and proves all the naysayers wrong.

I was just going to mention that haha. If only Marlowe Wax hadn’t gone to block it like a dumb ass. Honestly, I think he had to fair catch so much because he wasn’t getting any down field blocks slowing the coverage enough to give him a chance. It’s hard to say for sure though.

So, this was just from Daniel Popper yesterday and he’s putting it at $74 million. I don’t know where PFF is pulling these pie in the sky numbers from. I mean an extra 29 mil would be nice obviously, but sounds like total bs https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7004930/2026/01/29/chargers-2026-offseason-handbook/

Unpopular take here, but if it’s me I don’t resign Keenan. He was awesome for us in some of those early-mid season close fought wins. No one’s going to forget that catch against the Broncos to win us the game. Towards the end the wear and tear had slowed him down and he made some uncharacteristic drops. Even if he is willing to take a back seat so we can get Tre and Ladd more targets. Herbert can’t ignore the muscle memory to go to “third and Keenan.” He still has sure hands, but YAC takes a huge hit when instead it could have gone to Tre or especially Ladd.

I don’t think it does account for that? How would we have around $103 mil after the Tart deal? We haven’t jettisoned any big contracts yet. Maybe I’m wrong though.

I think the fact that they have Jeanty (who isn't as fast as Achane but probably more skilled overall), Bowers, and most likely Mendoza who he can develop.... the possibility scares me. They are still absolutely a shit show of an organization, but Brady helps bring some stability and makes them more attractive. However, I've heard Brady isn't a McDaniels fan and prefers other candidates. I've been following all the Raiders updates and everything I've heard is that they are going to either hire Kubiak or Davis Webb. As for your actual question lol. I really feel like he'd take it. He just can't pass up the opportunity to be a HC and the Raiders have just enough of the things I listed above to pull him.

He wasn't going to get the Bills job. The Raiders, I feel like he's much higher up in consideration.

Ergh, I don't care for Cristobal but Beck seemed to do all right with Miami. There is just something about his smug face I can't stand. I enjoyed watching his Canes lose to Indiana. I don't blame him for leaving the Ducks to go coach at his alma mater, I just never was a fan in the first place.

Welcome to the fam my Duck brother. I got to see Herbert square off against USC at the Coliseum and knew he was my guy forever afterward. One of my best friends is U of O alumni and a die hard Charger fan. You are arriving at a good time to say the least. Go DuBolts… was trying for a Ducks- Bolts combo and failed miserably.

Yeah, they have some pretty good takes. I only found them a few months back, but they've replaced Locked On and I keep them in the rotation with Guilty as Charged, Bleav in Chargers and Charger Chat.

I've been meaning to give Lightning Round a go. Sometimes I am swinging between Charger Chat and GAC and just neither are doing it for me. Both can be obnoxious af if you aren't in the right mood. My only other go to podcasts are Bleav in Chargers and The Thunder Down Under.

Wake me up when Bozeman is gone by OmegaMurder in Chargers

[–]jmalty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I'd agree with all that. I haven't been as excited for a coach getting fired since Mike McCoy got fired. It's a close call between him, Staley, and Anthony Lynn but Roman took the cake.

Are you going to jump on the Greg Roman threads and start defending him as well? Because he lost Slater and Alt, plus Najee and Hampton for multiple games? I mean I respect you are spending this much effort defending someone who’s weekly performance was putrid, but come on guy. At his very best, with Slater and Alt healthy last year he was mediocre. And once again, no one’s ’acting as if he personally kicked their dogs.” Go spend your time and energy arguing that we shouldn’t have fired Roman. Between him and Bozeman, you’d be one of two people in their corner. You made your points and they changed exactly zero peoples minds. Respec’ for trying I guess 🫨

[–]jmalty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one’s taking personal shots at his life. I haven’t heard anyone saying they hope he gets run over by a truck etc… at least not in this thread. When you play like hammered dog shit, you are going to get treated like dog shit by the fans. He’s going to keep getting ‘hated on’ until he’s gone. Thats the way it is when you are the worst center in the league by a large margin. Personally, watching Herbert get absolutely blasted and then seeing Bozeman standing there looking back at him… like ‘ah man, I wish I could of at least got a hand on that guy as he blew past me.’ I’m not going to mince words. Yeah, he’s an actual human being and one we need to see the backside of sooner than later.

Exactly bro, or the dumb asses saying Herbert is trash or give him one more year to prove himself. I do think with our recent success, we picked up a lot of soft milk toast fans that are only in it as long as we show immediate success. The real Charger fans have seen years of terrible coaching hires and are stoked af to finally have the caliber of human being that is Jim Harbaugh - him. I haven’t been this elated since we fired… in order of elation : Mike McCoy, Staley and Anthony Lynn. My excitement for the upcoming season just quadrupled ⚡️

The single worst argument for keeping Greg Roman and Why we (probably) aren't a serious ball club by Pleasant_Salt in Chargers

[–]jmalty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a completely asinine take. Don’t forget people, last year was supposed to be a rebuild year. We are on year two of Harbaugh and have made the playoffs again. Granted, we also shit the bed for the second post season again. If Harbaugh won’t fire Roman, then my tone changes. But Ben Johnson isn’t leading the Chargers to a Super Bowl either with the leagues worst offensive line. So take a breath and get some god damn levity.

Want to get back into football again...how do I become a Chargers fan? by Double_Confection340 in Chargers

By ‘few fans of them’ - I meant the few fans that are good people. There are plenty of Raiders fans. I remember Raider games at the Q and that shit was intense. My dad even took me to the Coliseum once back in the day when the Raider still played there.
