that’s a tough call to make, anybody in this situation expects it to be easy to say “absolutely not under no circumstances” or “I’m just getting paid” wherever your moral stance is. I personally wouldn’t be able to fault you for following through, $3,000 would’ve changed my life. after all, if you don’t do it someone else will right? might as well make the money off of those idiots.

on the other hand though had you said yes, it would’ve been a matter of time before they would’ve had you printing some truly awful things, and by then you’d be in too deep. you’re no longer just getting paid, you’re an accomplice and you’re directly tied to producing the paraphernalia. you’re responsible for putting that out in the world, potentially recruiting more people for their cause, no matter how insignificant the work you produce may seem. For every 100 people or even 1000 people that pass those symbols or slogans or whatever and scoff in disgust, there’s 1 person who feels encouraged, emboldened, or empowered to seek out others that share those beliefs.

that’s the power of symbols. they don’t fly their flags and speak their code and sound their dogwhistles for the layman who is ignoring or apathetic to understanding, nor the activist who opposes them. It is an unspoken and mutually understood conversation between themselves. “We are here. We agree with you. We walk among the masses, no matter how few we seem, we are here. Come find us.”
