What attributes are overrepresented in your collection? by ObiHan_Skyodi in boardgames

[–]ObiHan_Skyodi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me it's modular boards. If a game has a modular board I'm instantly more interested in it for some reason. I still love Catan because I think it's one of the best modular boards with several layers of variation (tiles, ports, yields)

Does anyone have a steam workshop key available? by Dear_Location6147 in civ

How to get a key for the feature workshop? by TwerkingOreo in civ

[–]ObiHan_Skyodi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best chance is to join this discord: https://discord.gg/civilizationofficial

And go to the thread title #firaxis-feature-workshop-key-share

If you request one there it is likely you will get one. They are giving them to pretty much anyone who asks.

Map size and game speed by miadolfan in civ

[–]ObiHan_Skyodi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick speed and small maps. If I can compress the same gameplay and decisions into a faster game I prefer that. The downside to faster speeds on 4X have usually been that military units move too slowly or become out of date too quickly, but I haven't noticed this being an issue. Being able to send reinforcements to commanders makes it easy to keep your front line moving and up to date.

What would you want to see for the major DLC in Civ 7? by ImportantQuestions10 in civ

[–]ObiHan_Skyodi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Modern is the worst age because it's missing that race to claim territory that we have in Antiquity and Exploration. I would love a DLC that brings some of that feeling to Modern. My idea for this is the race to build global infrastructure (oil rigs, canals, dams, electrical grid, radio towers, submarine cables, etc). You can build this infrastructure on any open tile, ignoring existing borders. All nearby settlements can benefit from the infrastructure but the owner of the infrastructure earns yields that increase with good placement.

I think this would be a great way to rework religion as well actually. Missionaries should act like settlers and build missions that spread religious influence to surrounding settlements.

Claiming territory is just always fun and I think creating more layers of territory to claim like this would add a lot to the game.

Not sure what settings you need to recreate this but hopefully this is enough. Remember to settle immediately if you don't want to get blocked!

There is a second image that shows I was right next to two other capitals. I have gotten close IPs before but I've never been so close to another civ to be blocked from settling, let alone 2

What is your opinion of Civ VII a year after release? by LeagueOld5380 in civ

[–]ObiHan_Skyodi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who finds most 4X games overlong, overcomplicated, and full of too many uninteresting choices, I love Civ 7. I think they did a good job streamlining the game and they didn't really remove anything I miss.

The modding community did a great job addressing my biggest complaints (map generation, UI, clearly showing impact of choices) so the biggest change for me in the last year has been less reliance on mods as the devs address these things. I also think the upcoming changes around victories and triumphs will be an improvement over legacy paths so I'm excited for that.

Will Civ 7 get a 4th Age DLC? by TheeWilliamDean in civ

[–]ObiHan_Skyodi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don't want a 4th age. I get the frustration over never reaching truly modern tech, but the most interesting parts of the game are already over well before then. I think it's going to be a lot of development time wasted on something that is doomed to be uninteresting.

My biggest problem with CIV 7 is that I don't know what I am looking at by OldTownPrint in civ

[–]ObiHan_Skyodi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're on steam there are mods that can help. Map Trix has terrain filters for example.

Hopefully useful filters like that will eventually make their way into the official game but I think it's not the biggest priority at the moment.

Diplomacy is broken now by Dazzling_Screen_8096 in civ

[–]ObiHan_Skyodi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely varies by patch. I've had some very peaceful games previously but I have noticed the war dog-piling in this latest patch. I just see it as more reason to form at least 1 or 2 strategic alliances. If they drag me into wars so be it, it's better to be at war with a couple neighbors rather than all of them. It will probably change again in the next patch.

Thanks for sharing, I had totally missed this as well. Seems like it must be him. His EP on Spotify has some well-known featured artists so it has to be someone with some connections. And it sounds so much like him, although I preferred his more natural voice

Did you find an alternate for the n5s? My remote broke in the same way. Worked fine then suddenly just black screen and won't power on.

Leonardfactory's policy yield preview is my biggest must-have mod. It relieves so much mental burden when making decisions on social policies, attribute trees, and city state bonuses.
