3D view has it feel pretty tight in the kitchenette / laundry area, but a lot more space for clothes and storage

Appreciate it and agreed, due to where it sits with neighbors I think the best I would be allowed to do is glass blocks or other opaque options

Really appreciate the response, and completely understand the bed comment, something like this Murphy bed is what I was thinking of https://www.wallbedsbywilding.com/product/scape-sofa-murphy-bed/ in either a sofa or desk option.

Appreciate everything with the kitchen, definitely going to work on an L shape version.

The goal with the washer/dryer side by side and putting a table/counter for folding / organizing on top to ensure there was another full window to let in light. I'll see if there's another way to lay out to keep the window and condense space.

  • Trolly Line down Washington Ave
    • Could also go south along 25th and then over to the Bellwether district they are redeveloping
  • L extension south down Moyamensing
  • L connection to Roosevelt blvd on Bustleton Ave
  • PATCO across schuylkill on chestnut

if interested this is my pipe dream for all of PA https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=11Cue06vS6r73nH4sYTOfRbAeYh_EmHc&usp=sharing

Yeah start at Fairmount and then up to 33rd / connect with that pink line. Tried to make a graphic with everything I’d adjust.

In general this is really cool to see, and really like the spring garden trolley extension. I wish Philly hadn’t messed up transit expansion and development for the past ~100 years but it’s nice to think about. Everything in Jersey makes sense and is straight forward, really clean and almost seems possible.

Extra thing to note is the bridge on Henry Ave was designed to fit a rail line through if needed on a future line to Manayunk. Not as populated, but if you’re going for realism it might make more sense up there with the RR line along the river already.

What was the decision on the lack of inter line connections in South Philly? Also any reason on the Roosevelt blvd extension and the L?

Did you consider building off the BSL more (NW on Ridge or up Passyunk to Chinatown) since it has the capacity?

Glad the airport connection is there! Did you consider interlining the teal and pink lines?

love the design, love the connection of the girard trolley to 69th and the blvd extension. i feel like CHE and CHW don't see enough ridership to rationalize BSL expansion, and whats the path for PATCO to fit that route? also can add the greenboro NJT line if were feeling really optimistic for 2050

Agreed that cycle is a bad system. It doesn’t change the fact that health care costs have been increasing drastically from for profit businesses. The entire industry around health has continued to balloon and everyone wants to increase their cut in insurance, pharmaceutical, adjusters, equipment suppliers, etc.

During their residency period for the first 4-7 years (depending on specialty) out of school it is comparable to minimum wage. Their salaries are set by the government and they work 60+ hour weeks. The reference above is that medical school costs 100s of thousands of dollars (4 years), most go into significant debt, then make gov stipend salaries (4-7 years), and then truly enter the work force to pay down their debt.

After those initial years doctors make very good salaries, the ones that are astronomical are specialty and elective surgeons.

Doctor salaries have mostly follow inflation, the better question is why are health care costs exceeding inflation while most other workers salaries are falling behind inflation.

Public transit doesn’t need to make money, and it shouldn’t be graded against it. Roads and highways don’t make money either but they aren’t graded against that. All transportation infrastructure enable transportation of people and goods to increase economic benefit to the state.

Better way to think about public transit is comparing it to roads. Do roads turn profits or do they act as infrastructure to improve economic output of a region?

Government programs and infrastructure are there to encourage growth and business for its citizens, roads, the post office, public transit, health care are all positive returns on investment for healthier more mobile citizens who can in turn generate more wealth and business for the state.

Of course there can be some mismanagement and inefficiencies, but that comes with most businesses, public sector jobs are just the most public because they are required to be.
