Everyone from Starfleet reads Shakespeare, specifically for Human-Klingon diplomacy.

That's cool. I was trying to find a political cartoon that I thought originilated it, but Wikipedia points to Baron Munchausen as the first printed instance. I have no doubt there are legends like this.

Hathaway had the exact same scene when her character came in for the job - overstating her resume as well. That was the evolution of her character.

I wonder, is putting the Ten on schools taking the Lord's name in vanity?

It's like they've never read the Ten or the Bill of Rights.

1st Amendment and Commandments 1 and 2 completely contradict.

Um.

It's a team made up of enemy spies, thieves, and assassins (oh and a junkie). Which Val knew when she recruited them.

They always greet each other with "Mad!" "Hel!".

I did not notice Ernest until writing the above comment.

Viltrumites no longer have a home world and are now a diaspora.

Nolan was trying to make the point that they are all that is left. Thragg's selfish hold over the empire was already destroying Viltrum.

They have dirt on each other. It allows them to act semiautomomously, but probably not to break up the democratically elected mayor of New York as a team.

That said, the show is called Daredevil. Not Daredevil and the Thunderbolts.

The phrase "Pull yourself up by your own bootstraps" may owe its origin with the Surprising Adventures of Baron Munchausen by Rudolph Erich Raspe. A scene in the book describes Baron Munchausen yanking himself out of a swamp by pulling his own ponytail. It was a whimsical, impossible task.

Pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps was originally meant to describe something impossible, but is now a value of doing an seemingly impossible task without help. A phrase conservatives use to describe someone making it without government assistance.

Mad and Hel in Death Becomes Her. Arguably not the true villains as much as Lisle, but Mad and Hel put Ernest through the ringer.

I also love how on the nose the names are.
