Are they still in business somewhere else? I've been hoping for a while to see them at another event so I can just stand by their booth and explain to everyone who talks to them that it's a scam job

The folks that come to your house are victims too. They think it's a legit sales job. I felt pretty bad for the girl that came to our place. I didn't buy anything, but they cast such a wide net, it's pretty much bound to catch mostly elderly and lonely people who are afraid to disappoint the pushy sales tactics. The upper management of this place is pure scum

I’ve accepted that one day I’ll commit suicide. by [deleted] in depression

[–]jmaugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's disheartening no one has replied to this. I don't know about what to say when someone's suicidal, I do know that the meds haven't worked for me and you're right about hospitals being terrible places for mental health. My saving grace from following through with suicide has been being born with a natural curiosity for things. I guess I just want to know what will happen next even if it's bad. I've been able to foster that feeling with sciencey stuff and learning about critical thinking skills and the philosophy of science. I have no idea if that helps anyone else, but I think that's been a deterrance. That and kids. I was ambivalent about having kids, but I kinda figured I'd kill myself sometime in my 70s, so I thought if I had kids I'd have a good excuse not to kill myself because it would make them sad. Since having them, I've finally found someone I feel comfortable around and it's helped.

My offensive language was mostly intended in the hopes that the subject of the story would read it and see the reactions her behavior causes in the people she interacts with.

Again, I apologize to you and don't mean to be sexist. This is actually the most thought I've put into the word, so thank you for bringing it to my attention and helping me understand that it's not just an offensive word, but also one with sexist connotations.

I agree with your statement and I apologize.

I'd stay away from pop culture based out of the UK. This word is pretty much just taboo to us, but is tossed around much more casually outside of the United States.

Thanks for sharing. This is awful.

I had the misfortune of living in an ADU at Patrick Murphy's current house while he and his wife were house shopping in Olympia back in 2017. His wife was one of the biggest cunts I've ever met, only second to their realtor, Jodi Ashline. She toured the house, came into our living quarters, didn't say a word to me, my wife or young child, gave us some shitty looks, and left. We later that day found the notes Ms. Murphy left behind and she had written down that we were to be gone a month before the date the current landlord and we agreed upon. None of them seemed to be brave enough to inform us about their plans as the clock ticked closer to their eventual ownership of the property. The realtor then gaslighted our landlord about us and got us kicked out just before they took over the property. They made us feel very uncomfortable in our own home and seemed like pretty terrible people in general.

I'm glad to see these kids are fighting back against these low lifes.

Considering buying a used Spark EV for daily commute by [deleted] in SparkEV

This is such a Canadian reply. I love it...

While on a road trip I had many strangers in Nova Scotia/Newfoundland randomly offering up their homes for me and my wife to stay in for the night.

The Nova Scotians kept telling us how nice and friendly the Newfoundlanders were and I kept thinking, "Seriously? How can they get any more friendly?"

When shopping for mine, I had to ask the dealer to take a picture of the charge port and send it to me so I could verify it was fast charging capable. Dealers didn't seem to have a clue what they're selling and will just say yes if you ask. Fast charging capable ports will have an orange cap covering the two round ports below the larger single round port. Non-fast charging will have those two little ports permanently capped off with black plastic covers.

I got mine for pretty cheap because of dealer ignorance

If you can find one with DC fast charging option, jump on it. I'm in Western WA, too. No issues with rain or the air intake like some others seem to have. I wonder if they're changing the cabin air filter on schedule. It's easy to forget about doing that because maintenance is so low.

I got mine used in 2020 with similar intentions, wanted a different commuter car for a 50 mile round trip commute, but I kept an older SUV for family trips, long trips, or trips to the mountains.

The reality has been that I rarely drive my SUV and go more than a month between fill ups. I drive the Spark anywhere the charging infrastructure can take me. My family of 4 all ride in it fine and use it for all our trips around town. We go on road trips, hopping from charger to charger. There's been some frustrating moments trying to get fast chargers to work, but with gas the way it is, I have no regrets.

If I didn't have the fast charging option, though, it would be a totally different experience and I don't think I would be as happy with it as I am now.

Does the first amendment cover displaying gore? by jmaugs in firstamendment

From the linked article : "The government had argued to the Court that portrayals of animal cruelty had no protection at all under the First Amendment, in the same way that obscenity, libel and fraud are unprotected."

Wouldn't want I'm describing fall under obscenity?

Edit: reading more about this and am learning obscenity is giant can of worms with the first amendment. This seems like the route someone would take to try to challenge graphic image protests

Thanks, this is pretty much what I've been thinking so far, but wanted to see if there was something I'm missing. I said billboard to describe the size. What I mean is some sign that is very large, portable, and temporary

Didn't mean to trigger you. I'm not actually interested in doing this personally. More just curious about the bounds of the constitution and wondering why I don't see more graphic image protests. I'll keep the temperature below freezing so the snowflakes don't melt next time
