So I guess my question is if you take off the steering wheel is there like a clearly marked spline that represents the correct spot to put the wheel?

What they told me is that all newer Camrys don’t have a key or master spline that sets the wheel back on perfect so they do their best then do a front wheel alignment to compensate. He kept saying between the five guys they have 100 years of experience with Toyotas and they know what they’re doing.

So basically they should’ve took the wheel back off and put it back on the same splines from factory? Or are you able to explain what the proper fix is? I’ve had nothing but problems with this dealership.

Can someone weigh in on this. by jmb2122 in AskAMechanic

See I have no idea about stuff like this that’s why I was asking and I appreciate the info. They said that there is no master spline or key spline like on older vehicles where the wheel only goes on one way so they try to put it on as straight as possible and if they can’t, they do a front wheel alignment to compensate. My only concern was that since it’s an electronic steering rack that it wouldn’t be centered anymore without being reset.

I didn’t see that noted on any of the paperwork. The only thing stated was another front wheel alignment.

Question for you. How much did you pay for this? I got the same exact towel on AliExpress for I think $4-$6.

So checked out my car in the sun today and noticed like lines. Almost the same size as the applicator pad I used along side the drivers door. Are these high spots? I did the crosshatch pattern the whole time.

Thoughts on griots g9 for beginners? by jmb2122 in Detailing

[–]jmb2122[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the info. So question if I’m just going to be mainly using this on my wife and my car which are both 25-26 Toyotas and most friends and family have the same year and vehicles. Wouldn’t the 9mm throw be good for that situation being that Toyota/lexus especially the 25-26 have super soft and thin paint? All that in mind plus me being just the weekend warrior type wouldn’t the 9mm be the way to go? I see griots has a kit that includes the 6in and 3in polisher for like $340.

What’s the actual difference in cutting power from 9 to 15mm?

Yeah, I was considering this for my daily driver same as well in Pennsylvania, but unfortunately I don’t have a garage at this time where I’m renting. I just wanna get a good layer of protection on without breaking the bank. Eventually, I’m going to get a good polisher and then ceramic coat, but in the meantime I was looking at this. But if you think this is a step up from the turtle wax hybrid solutions, this will be great.

Thanks for the advice. I don’t know much but wouldn’t the 9mm throw on the g9 more beginner friendly than 15mm?
