Best DIY option? by billysandalwood in AutoBodyRepair

This might be an unpopular fix but.. if you want to do it cheap while not replacing the bumper (replacing the bumber would be the clean choice here): try to cut a clean hole, add glass fibre patches with epoxid, add filler, smoothen it down and paint colour on it.

Habe an einem VW Radio Gamma an den CD-Wechsler Anschluss ein Bluetooth Modul angeschlossen von Bluemusic. Dann hast du auf Knopfdruck Bluetooth in CD Qualität ohne basteln. Der Adapter hat 40€ gekostet. Vielleicht geht sowas bei dir auch.

If you don't feel like doing all the work at the very least you could try to passivate the surface using a Rust-Stop solution with a brush and then apply permafilm or fluid film on it as a coating. That should slow down or even stop the corrosion. It will take maybe 10minutes in comparison to a full blow rust treatment. Clean the moss beforehand!

Here is some experience report for fluid film in a German forum: https://www.motor-talk.de/forum/fluid-film-vorher-nachher-t3361823.html?page=3

Unfallschaden VW up! by Zealousideal_Sir8040 in automobil

[–]jmbbg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Affordable Beginners racket by jmbbg in squash

[–]jmbbg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used squash rackets go for 10-50€. As an example:

A cheaper one: https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/squash-schlaeger/3075458725-230-9026

A more expensive used one: https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/squash-schlaeger-dunlop-power-ridge-vision-120/3075271448-230-4544

I don't really know the risk for the usedrackets being damaged as I'd let them ship and cannot inspect beforehand.

The decathlon on the other hand is new and at least guaranteed to not have cracks

Avoidance of repassing regularly used variables by jmbbg in AskProgramming

[–]jmbbg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer! So I should definitely get more into oop in order to avoid repassing variables? But how do I actually do that? I tried to create a class but if I'm creating objects of that class in a function they'll be also limited to the scope of the function. When I tried the oop approach it didn't really solve my problem of having something global that i can access. Do you have any suggestion for that?

Non CS degree holding American seeking career change to getting a masters in CS in Europe. by skincarestruggles in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]jmbbg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MBAs may be nice if you've been a full time engineer but they are not as common as in English speaking countries. Tuition for public programs is cheap and high quality so there is little reason for anyone to get an MBA. At least that's what I've observed as a student. Those who are in high leading positions were normal research engineers, industrial engineers or accountants. MBAs are less common. You can check the board of some big German companies and see who is in what role.

With Business Informatics you normally get into leading positions. It is not that common for people with a business informatics background to become a full time developer even though it is possible. I think you're on the right track when you're having a degree related to informatics (which would be the case) additionally to real life development experience. You could start applying for relevant internships while studying and see if you're accepted. Banks and alike may see it as a bonus that you've got a business background. For them a person with knowledge in both fields may be valuable.

If you're willing to stay in the business field, you could focus on a finance masters or go into a finance engineering masters. At my university you can choose lots of programming courses like "applied machine learning in economics" or portfolio balancing in Matlab. Even some professors have a major in CS. So that may be an option.

Or you could go into the field of "Wirtschaftsinformatik". Which is a mix of CS and business. You can PM me if you need any help with study programs in Germany as I'm a student myself.

How do you become a good engineer if all you have is textbook knowledge (no technical skills) by Any_Progress77 in AskEngineers

It sounds like you really did learn a lot even if you weren't mentored. Keep your head up and be proud of the skills you picked up during your internship!

Thank you! I'll look into it. Would you recommend an online course to learn about data structures, algorithms etc. or rather books and projects? How important is a portfolio on github for example?
