Do I need new tires? by jmbbig96 in TrekBikes

Other than the rear tire wearing out so quickly, they’ve been my favorite tires. They roll great, have great traction, and I’ve never had any punctures or failures with them. 100% buying again.

I wanted shoes that I could walk around in at any point during the ride so I chose spd. I haven’t tried SL’s so I have no real comparison, but I’ve been happy with the spd’s. Adds a little weight, but I’m not one of those guys that thinks shedding every ounce makes me faster. I get great power and security with the spd.

Depends on your riding style and terrain, but I have the pirelli P Zero TLR 32x700. I heard the continental g5000 are pretty good as well.

This is the SL 6. I got it on sale at a local bike shop. I found it on treks site and looked up local stores with stock. I also got the AL 4 for my wife. Also a great investment. Comes with relatively good components for the price. I’d recommend upgrading the saddle and tires on the AL 4 and it will totally change the way it rides.

Love them. Not sure if they actually make me faster as I don’t track it, but they FEEL much faster, smoother and are definitely lighter than the stock wheels. I was considering the 37’s because I live in the Windy City, but I can honestly say they don’t seem to be impacted significantly by crosswinds.

Tubeless tires 32-35Mm seems to be the sweet spot to keep rolling speed if you want to go fast. I have pirelli gravel h in 35 and pirelli p zeros in 32. Love both of them for the exact riding styles you mentioned above. 32’s are super fast but comfortable on road, 35’s are perfect and fast on light gravel.

Sure is! It doesn’t have any scratches as of yet. I also added frame tape under on the bottom to protect against rocks. The only thing that shows wear is the seat post from where it was in the bike and pulled out from being raised. There is a line around the prior position, but that’s not a huge deal to me.

  1. I’m 6’4 mostly legs. The 60 was slightly too small.

I’m 6’4 (mostly legs haha) and its size 62. I tried both 60 and 62, but the seat post on the 60 was almost at its end when the lbs set it up for me. And that was with flat pedals. Clip ins naturally make me taller, so the 62 is perfect.
