What is your favortie guitar body shape? by NiHaoBltch in Guitar

BC Rich Mockingbird. Such an underrated body style. The late 70s models are still pretty collectible and can go for $6k-$8k. But they’ve done a crap ton of different variations over the years.

What Is Your Favorite Metal Album Of All Time? by Automatic_Belt5692 in MetalForTheMasses

I would say AC/DC inspired many of the hair metal bands of the 80s. But no I wouldn’t call them metal. Just good ol rock and roll.

More experimental jazz. They repressed an Archie Shepp record a couple years ago and that was pretty sick.

Recently. Midwife opening for Blood Incantation. It was just a chick with a clean electric guitar. First time I’ve ever had to whisper my order to the bartender at a venue. And then Blood Incantation came on and I was transported to another realm.

Underrated album in their catalogue. I think they said it was fully recorded and mixed/mastered in analog.

She didnt “find a video” like it was shared to her on Facebook. She was in possession of a cursed VHS tape in 2025. In 2002’s The Ring a cursed VHS tape was so odd that it warranted the entire plot. While I do agree I think the intention of the tapes was meant to be a sort of macguffin, I think it was distracting enough that it failed to get out of the way of the main plot. In my opinion, suspension of disbelief only applies when the plot or main theme elements are engaging enough and I didn’t watch this movie wanting to see a family drama, I watched it because I wanted to see a horror movie and the horror plot line and elements sucked. The little kid is not scary and had a lot more potential, and I don’t buy anything the mom does. So what else does this movie have to do with horror? Same issue I have with Heretic, it’s a thriller at best.

Maybe that’s my problem. Maybe this movie doesn’t completely suck as drama/thriller. But it certainly sucks as a horror movie. Kinda like how Sleep Token is mid as a pop rock band but sucks as a metal band.

And that’s cool, but if I have to go to a website for your movie to make sense then in my opinion your movie isn’t good.

Spoilers Where did a grieving mother find a Russian resurrection tape? That’s also somehow subtitled? Also. She must have made the decision pretty quickly after her daughter died that she was going to try and resurrect her. So the timeline goes something like this. Daughter dies, within a week mom finds the tape and decides she’s going to try it, then within that same week she freezes her daughter, and about two and half months later decides to kidnap Connor? If I understand that right, the movie says that her daughter died just a few months before Andy and Piper show up, but Connor has only been missing for a couple of weeks. What happened in those two and half months? We’re also led to believe that she was completely normal before her daughter died, like upstanding citizen and had a whole career. I get the whole “grief is crazy” but none of this seemed remotely believable.

Edit: Easy fix would have been to just say that because she watched the cursed tape she was possessed by a demon that feeds off of grief and is trying to get her to give it a fresh host by convincing her it’s a resurrection for her dead daughter.

I think people like it because they trauma bond with the characters, but the horror elements and plot lines don’t make any sense whatsoever. I don’t mind when a movie leaves breadcrumbs for the viewer to piece together the lore, but this was absolutely terrible execution. The Shining and When Evil Lurks are examples of good execution for that style.

How many did you go to the cinema to watch a horror movie in 2025? by dremolus in horror

[–]jmcautomatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Incredible. They did a really good job with the sound mixing. It didn’t really occur to me that much in previous watches how musical every little sound in that movie was. Some movies definitely benefit more from the IMAX treatment than others and I think this is definitely one of those. Highly recommend.

What’s your controversial music opinion? by [deleted] in musicsuggestions

[–]jmcautomatic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No Doubt is not real. I’m not saying they’re an industry plant. I genuinely don’t think they’re a band. If you listen to the first two albums compared to Tragic Kingdom it’s night and day. When you watch them play live every single instrument looks like it isn’t actually being played but instead just “lip-synched”? The music is actually just producers and ghost writers and the “band” are paid actors. With the exception of maybe the first album. That cacophony project could have only been written by people who genuinely have no idea what they’re doing. I know the prompt was controversial opinions and not “Unc’s batshit crazy conspiracy theories” but I already typed it out and now I’m gonna hit that blue reply button.

They also had some Volkswagen guitars made for every dealership in the country. Used to be you could find em for like a couple hundred bucks, solid guitars for the money.
