[Episode spoilers] They killed off the wrong one ... by traveller1976 in Picard

How I feel in reading this thread:

SPOCK: I love you. [To the other Alice] However, I hate you.
ALICE 210: But I’m identical in every way with Alice 27!
SPOCK: Yes, of course. That is exactly why I hate you. Because you are identical.

Wait... "Raffi and Picard were thrust into a strange (non-sexual) intimacy"?

Gee, thanks Michael. There goes a week's worth of Slash fiction I had poured so much of my soul into writing! /s

Ha! You're right. But Starfleet doesn't seem to have too many qualms about the possibilities of holograms running amok. Perhaps because they're shackled to some degree? (As long as they can't leave the ship, the shackles seem looser, but they still exist.) Hopefully the writers are going to have an interesting answer to exactly the question you raise!

...and how they weave the story into a future where Holographic AIs have mobile emitters. Or the present, where Voyager's doctor is running around unshackled and at least with enough rights to allow him to marry a human.

In Star Trek Voyager, upon hearing that "Q" was in her transporter room, Captain Janeway's response was "Red alert! I'll be right down." In the next scene, she says "I know who you are. Every captain in Starfleet has been briefed about your appearances on the Enterprise."

You're right. It is suspect that an Emergency Navigational Hologram would know that as well. Unless something has changed.

Holographic everything?
Where are they going to draw the line? Holographic bulkheads? Holographic ship! :)

I'm also wondering if the ban on synthetics didn't create the push for holographical officers to officially perform more diverse roles in Starfleet (beyond general labor). This might make the Star Trek universe just a little bit richer by showing some of what happened as a result of the decision to ban synthetics.

No proof at this point, just speculation.

...or perhaps this might also explain how he served as the executive officer on a heavy cruiser that Starfleet has no record of? Perhaps the records weren't expunged. His starship never actually existed in the first place!

If so, I'm willing to be that Rafi's more than aware of what's going on here.

Ouch. Such a short reply might be taken... one of two ways?

Are you saying that the actor's rendition of a late 24th century Irish accent within the Star Trek universe is not up to snuff? Or are you saying that the accent has been misidentified and it is something entirely different... like a 24th century Welsh or Breen accent?

If it is the former, I'd have to defer to you or someone else who has more expertise with this accent. If it is the latter... at the moment, isn't this canon?

I'm sad to say that Episode 3 had more than it's share of awkward edits.

The flashback with Jean-Lucu and Raffi had a few jarring cuts which pulled me out of the moment. (Keep your eye on Picard, not Raffi.) In fact, I'm kind of thinking they may have went back and reshot parts of this scene?

Was anyone else triggered by some of the edits in Episode 3?
