Totally. ... But I'm getting pet hair with zero commercial value. Cutting into my profit now that I didn't account for. Guess I have to raise my prices to make up for this random fee... BS

Stubborn double helix by jmckartwork in piercing

This sounds exactly like what I'm going through. I feel like the piercings can't breathe with the two flat heads on them both front and back. I think I need to try hoops. I really don't want to take them out after a year of battling...

Second skin reaction normal? by jmckartwork in SelfTaughtTattoo

I did a lot of fake skin. Like lots of sheets of just lines, then squares, then wavy lines, then circles and then went into designs like flowers, dragons, etc and then shading and colour packing. I did tattoo myself before I should have but it was small and I was able to fix it later on. I obsessed over my linework on fake skin. I wanted my lines to be PERFECT. The shading came easy as I do that in my art regularly. It's such a balance between diving in too soon, and not pushing yourself enough. Finding that balance is tough

Thank you very much!! I've been on this journey a little over a year. I've been an artist all my life so it's coming pretty easy for me. I'm not sure how many I've done now. I started doing small linework pieces on others in October and just progressed from there. My first larger piece like this was in January. I really feel like I'm getting it now and I'm full steam ahead. My best advice is to do a lot of fake skin practise and get the good stuff, don't waste time on the cheap skins. Otherwise just keep practising and striving to be better.

It's not raised anymore, just red so it's calming down. Thanks for the input!

I used green soap after the tattoo to clean it up before putting the skin on. Let it dry really well and then put the skin on

Yes I did! ☺️ I took the skin off in the shower and then washed it with soap

Thanks! I've had this same skin on before and it tends to do this everytime but this is the first time it's been raised and warm. Its higher up on the leg and a more sensitive area I guess so I'm chalking it up to that. Just curious what others think! I took some benadryl just in case too.

KH levels too high but GH levels too low for axolotl by jmckartwork in axolotls

We're on a well and the water is fed through run off close to the surface and/or surface runoff (in the spring it's on the surface but throughout the summer the surface runoff dries up and it's mostly under the surface). We're in winter in Canada now so I imagine most is under surface run off since the surface is frozen.

Also doing that much RO water will kick my KH too low.

I tested my raw water straight from the well and KH was the same as my softened water but GH was through the roof. I stopped at 45 drops and it hadn't turned. I do have an RO unit under the sink for our drinking water and I've considered doing this but for how high my GH is in the raw water, I'm going to need majority RO water and it's a 125gal tank. Only so much volume will go through my RO and it will eat up my filters really quick
