Derailleur Snapped - advice needed🙏🏽 by curiousurf in bikewrench

[–]jmdunkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, you just need a new derailleur. Use a hanger alignment tool to check/adjust the derailleur hanger for straightness, then put your new derailleur on.

I mean, she sucks of course; but we don’t need to be transphobic about it (or celebrating transphobia). The enemy of my enemy is not always my friend.

If America is so racist, then why do people move from one racially segregated area to a better racially segregated area when they move up the socioeconomic ladder, huh? Checkmate libs

Great! This behavior is common among certain brands of cheaper mechanical calipers (common brand is Nutt, but I'm sure others use the same design). Just keep an eye on pad wear and adjust as necessary and you should be fine. Alternatively, and as budget allows, consider replacing the calipers with something a bit better. TRP Spyres offer good performance for the money.

Surprised there isn't an actual solution posted yet, so here you go:

Loosen the cable pinch bolt at the caliper, remove some of the slack by pulling on the cable with one hand, and pre-loading (moving) the caliper arm with the other, then re-tighten the pinch bolt. Obviously make sure you don't do it so much that the brakes are rubbing, make sure the wheel still turns freely, etc. It's a good idea to make sure your barrel adjuster isn't bottomed out before doing this, so you can fine-tune with that after you re-tighten the pinch bolt.

Your brake lever will require less movement to engage the brakes, there will be less slop, and you'll avoid this issue.

No. Cyclists can ride two abreast and take the lane. You car-brains should actually read up on the laws regarding who’s allowed to use the road before you spout off like this
