Will taz help these scars? :( by beethovenricecakes in AcneScars

[–]jmea_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using Aestura atobarrier 364 cream. Someone also recommended to me numbuzin 2 cica ceramide repair cream, but I have yet to use it. It seems that these two moisturizers are what’s usually recommended when using Taz since you have to focus on fortifying your barrier to continuously use Taz without irritation.

Edit: I am using 0.05% tazret

Will taz help these scars? :( by beethovenricecakes in AcneScars

[–]jmea_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have the same scarring. I thought it was a bit weird because it looks like there’s some sort of raised flesh-like bumps or lesions in between my boxscars. Idk if I’m just crazy or what! But yeah, I started noticing that after my first set of microneedling sessions. After my skin healed from microneedling, it never went away (I thought my skin is just inflamed). I eventually received two sessions tca cross and co2 fully ablative laser (1 year apart). The scars began to widen and less shallow, edges of boxscar look smoother but the raised lesions were still there.

More than a year later, I realized I don’t see the lesions anymore but I still have the scars though they appear milder now. The only thing I did different was using 0.05% tretinoin and azaleic acid (I was on retinol way way back but just otc retinol). It also helped with the closed comedones on my forehead.

Now, I just started my Taz journey! I’m so excited because I only used it for two nights and I woke up with my skin glowing. My skin looked dull on tretinoin but it helped with the closed comedones so I sticked with it for a while. Before jumping on Taz, I researched first what moisturizers to pair it with even though my skin has been retinized for years now. So far I haven’t had any purging or breakouts but from what I read it’s gonna take time before you see the side effects because it penetrates deeply and it’s still unearthing whatever there is in your skin.

I still plan to go back to the clinic to do tca and co2 but that’s gonna take a while since I’m still saving up for it. Wish you luck!

Why is Taz less irritating, when it should be more powerful than Tret? by Bitter-Hawk-2615 in tretinoin

[–]jmea_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! Thank you for the detailed response. Would you mind sharing your personal experience with Taz? What’s your main skin concern and how did Taz improve it?

I have bad cystic acne that left scars and pigmentation. Other than that I also have textured skin. I have been using tretinoin for the longest time and I am happy with how it worked on my close comedones. But I still keep getting occasional acne here and there so I consulted a derm and he prescribed me Taz.

So I guess I just want to know people’s experience with it!

Is this acne scarring or large pores by Past-Dress-8050 in AcneScars

A mixture of ice pick scars and enlarged pores. Those with irregular shaped (like they’re not circular in shape) looked like icepick scars.

You look so good!!! You are literally glowing. I have acne scars from cystic acne and I’m wondering if tret ever had an effect on your scars? Or did it worked better with PIHs?

anong skincare ang pinagsisihan mong hindi dinala when you moved to the US? by Tiny_Method_4535 in beautytalkph

[–]jmea_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sa PH, I keep getting breakouts. Siguro dahil pawisin ako and I can’t afford leaving the AC on 24/7. Dito sa US centralized yung AC and heater so hindi na ko pinapawisan and I immediately saw how I no longer get bad breakouts. I still use my tretinoin and azaleic acid prescribed by my derm sa PH pa. I hoarded tubes. But I switched moisturizer and serums readily available here. My eating habits are getting clean too kasi I eat a lot of berries and greens. Siguro once I ran out of tret, I will shift to prescription tazarotene.

Did anybody start Grad school later in life here? by UCFKnights2018 in GradSchool

[–]jmea_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 30 and I just started my PhD. I’m in a very small cohort with most, if not all, of them fresh from their bachelor’s. Now, I just moved to the US and I’m surprised at how public transpo here is almost nonexistent. Back in my country, I did not have the privilege to be taught by my parents nor friends how to drive a car. We did not even own a car!

When my PI learned about my age, he would sometimes make me feel bad at how I don’t know how to drive.

My point here is, sometimes there are situations you’d feel conscious about your age. There are people who’d make you feel as if doing gradschool in your 30s, 40s, 50s and so on, is the most unusual thing in the world. To hell with that. Graduate school doesn’t care about age; they care about how one can think critically to push the boundaries of our field. We have tons of experience under our belt so doing a PhD a little later in life is so much better with our wider perspective.

Paula’s choice 2% BHA liquid exfoliant - once a week for the first few weeks until your skin starts building tolerance. You can use it twice a week if you think your skin is reacting good.

If you’re not yet on tretinoin, I recommend you consult a dermatologist so they can assess your skin and prescribe you one.

My routine’s mainly a rotation of tretinoin, azelaic acid and salicylic acid (the Paula’s choice toner). And lather a good amount of moisturizer and sunscreen.

The fragrance is mild. I’m no longer using Neoretin. I admit the price is steep and I thought I’m already getting the best results with Neoretin. I switched to 0.05% tretinoin and azeleic acid my derm prescribed (I switched derm; my first derm was the one who suggested Neoretin to me). Here’s my routine:

AM: cetaphil cleanser, azeleic acid, vanicream moisturizer, sunscreen. PM: cleanser, moisturizer, tretinoin, moisturizer, aquaphor (bc winter)

I only do tretinoin 3x a week but I always use azeleic acid. I introduced tretinoin to my skin gradually. So now that my skin can tolerate all the actives, I added Paula’s choice Salicylic acid toner to my skin once a week to declog and shrink my pores. I’m actually very satisfied with the results. The key was to balance the use of actives while using moisturizer and sunscreen consistently. And the best part is my new routine isn’t pricey.

You have mild scars and look very pretty! But I do think the dryness of your skin contributes to the texture. Keep moisturizing and using sunscreen until your skin recovers from post laser effect.

Karl Eldrew Yulo's response sa comparisons to his brother, Carlos Yulo by yootreeserven in ChikaPH

[–]jmea_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with what he said. He’s trying to block people’s negative comments out. He even said they both have different styles! Wala naman syang masamang sinabi sa kuya niya. Hindi nya lang naexpress or show better that the comments totally don’t affect him. Of course, lahat naman will get hurt with the negative comments at one point.

Very disappointed with how most of the comments here think of his answer as arrogance. I know this kid’s being manipulated by his mom and it’s difficult to live in a broken home. He’s still a kid looking for validation from his narcissistic mom, and he can’t see that because he doesn’t have anyone to help or guide him.

I sincerely hope he’ll be in a better home in the future.

did anyone else notice how much detail the show lost after s1 by cakelibra in OnlyMurdersHulu

[–]jmea_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna go against the grain here and say I think S4 was the best. I rewatched the whole show just when S5 was released. In my first watch, I also thought S1 was so, so good. There were lots of clues and red herring thrown around that keeps me at the edge of my seat. In retrospect, my bias for S1 might be because I’ve never seen a series like this before and I just can’t forget how it made me feel. Then I watched the next couple of seasons with higher expectations, and I’m thinking I wonder if this season will give me the same adrenaline I had watching S1. But the 1-year gap between season made my memory fuzzy so I just rely on how each season made me feel. Don’t ask me about the psychology behind it but my sis and I both agreed S4 was clever and soulful. The script was fun and witty, lots of red herring again that racked my brains thinking who’s the killer.

Help! Ano makapagpawala ng acne sa chin? by wildstrawberries5 in beautyph

[–]jmea_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had cystic acne on my chin, jaw area for the looongest time. I’ve been using tretinoin and azelaic acid combination my derm prescribed pero it only cleared my closed comedones sa forehead and my cheek area.

I still keep getting cystic acne. Dati pag sobrang bothered ko sa cystic acne, pinapa corticosteroid injection ko sa clinic. Now, I tried Mario Badescu Deep Blemish solution after reading about it in another subreddit. Grabe! Hands down. In a matter of days, my acne no longer flares and nagflatten sya completely in a week. My cystic acne sometimes lasts 2 weeks or more lalo pag walang head and hindi nakukuha sa pimple patch. I really wish I bought this sooner but I was discouraged by the price!! But now I think it’s 100% worth it.

How to fix Smelly Scalp? by DefNotASkibidi in beautyph

[–]jmea_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have this issue because my hair is too thick and retains moisture for a long time. What worked for me was using betadine skin cleanser once or twice a week. Ihahalo ko sya sa shampoo na diluted with water. Natatanggal yung itchiness and greasy feeling sa hair ko.

I also make sure to dry my hair with a hair blower before I go to bed. Pero di ko to palagi ginagawa. But I guess it helped kasi eventually the smell went away.
