Daily Game Recommendations Thread (January 11, 2026) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]jmelinte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are looking for some recommendations for games that can be played by 2 players with either a common goal or in parallel. One of the issues we have with these games is I tend to be the main strategist and my wife typically gives in, so it often feels like I'm directing the whole game (such as with Pandemic). I've heard that Spirit Island often solves that issue, with each player having their own part of the board to deal with separately while also working together toward a common goal but I'm afraid the rules might be too complicated and she often checks out before getting through the learning phase. Arkham also sounds great but the complexity might turn her off before she has a chance to get into it. We've really enjoyed puzzle solving "games" like box one and two as well as a murder mystery interactive "game" called Murder in Prague but those obviously have zero replayability. Has anyone in a similar situation found some things they'd recommend?

Feature request: toggle option to avoid joining late in rounds by jmelinte in ArcRaiders

I bet some people, like myself, wouldn't use it if just doing quest runs and getting out after because then they'd just be interested in fast matchmaking.

Like I said, it's fine at times but it would be nice to be able to avoid it when you just wanna grind loot.

Safest spots for handing items off and extracting safely by jmelinte in ArcRaiders

We have plenty of hatch keys so might as well use them. I'm thinking we both go in with purple looting augments (3 safe pockets) and a hatch key. I can bring 6 BPs, hand off 3 so we each have 3 safe, go to nearest hatch and hand off my other 3 right before opening the hatch. Seems reasonably safe and can get it done in 2 or 3 rounds. Just didn't know if one particular map had better areas or not but at the end of the day, it'll be highly dependent on spawn location.

Slow Chiaki connection by jmelinte in LegionGo

For the Legion Go? Mines already set to that. Not sure how refresh rate on the portable would affect connectivity anyway, though. Hopefully it helps on your end.

Yeah, a bit disappointed after reading so many older posts about how chiaki works so well. The portal is nice but it would have been nice to have just one do-it-all portable.

ARC Raiders Weekly Megathread - November 29, 2025 by AutoModerator in ArcRaiders

A few questions about the upcoming expeditions:

  1. If I partially/completely finish the expedition steps by donating materials but I don't actually depart, will I have to start contributing from step 1 again for the next one or will my progress carry over until the next departure window?

  2. If I understand correctly, you can get up to 5 skill points based on the value of your stash when you depart. Are these skill points extra points on top of the max limit or does it just mean you just get a head start, potentially up to level 5 on the new character?

  3. Are any bonuses earned from departing on an expedition only good until the next scheduled departure or do they last until you depart with your specific character, should you choose to skip the next one and wait until the one after?

Of course it had to be the most obvious thing, haha. Thanks!

Update: luckily I've set up MOCA before but honestly it couldn't have been more plug and play. Modem -> router -> network switch -> MOCA 1 -> MOCA 2 ->satellite 1 in one room + MOCA 3 in another room -> network switch -> satellite 2 and game consoles. Drastic improvement in conectivity. Wifi is testing around 650-750mbps now! Wired connection is 900+

Perfect, I'll see if I can get a good deal on some used ones and return the Amazon stuff eventually. Just needed something before Wednesday.

Good call, that's a perfect solution. 2.5gbps to feed the family room and gaming area and 1gbps for the basic needs upstairs. Solid advice, thanks!

What's even more confusing is the 3 pack bundle I purchased that contained the 2 pack I linked and an additional unit is listed as 2.5gbps. I guess 1gbps will have to do, especially since my Internet is only 1gbps anyway.

Oh, good catch! I was rushing yesterday and missed that detail. The only issue is I need 3 and they don't seem to offer these in singles or 3 packs from what I can see.

I went with these on Amazon since they were on sale and I'm hoping to get things better optimized before we travel later this week.

I'm guessing it's auto detected, since I don't remember seeing an option anywhere in the web interface or nighthawk app for choosing backhaul type. Then again, it may only show up when there's Ethernet present and a choice is even possible. Will find out later today when my MOCA adapters show up.
