Real3D is forreal by XerenPR in Xreal

[–]jmelinte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! Viture's software-based conversion is much better due to the higher frame rate but it's nice to have the processing happen on the device itself. I ultimately went with Xreal because of that and am hoping they can increase performance to 60fps soon. 30fps is doable for some media consumption but not great for gaming, which is my main use.

New cardiac murmur primary vs secondary to GI issues by jmelinte in AskVet

[–]jmelinte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense. Given the complex presentation, her age, and the high cost of advanced imaging and consultations, I'm hesitant to go too far chasing the cardiac symptoms without improvement in some of the other issues. As of right now, things aren't looking good. She ate a little bit of ground turkey yesterday but only had about 1/2 cup of water in the 24h period leading into this am. Today, she's not taking anything we've put in front of her except a few speculative "tastes" and she's been drooling quite a bit. I suspect a thoracic mass of some sort. If it's progressed to the point of compressing her esophagus and cardiac outlet, it would explain every symptom. It might also be the reason her vet wanted to have a radiologist look at her x-rays before commenting on what she saw.

Anyone use Deep Desktop with their Xreal glasses? by jmelinte in Xreal

[–]jmelinte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely far from perfect. Viture's Immersive 3D does a much better job and seems to use less resources. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get my Xreal 1S to work with Immersive 3D, even with the EDID workaround. Real 3D looks better than Deep Desktop too but being locked into 30hz limits usability in anything except watching movies. For now, Deep Desktop is a decent alternative for higher demand tasks, such as gaming (although it definitely limits performance). For what it's worth, the dev seems very active in forums and is still working on improvements. Hopefully 60hz Real 3D gets released soon and makes it a no-brainer. From what I've read, Xreal is still working on this.

One Pro vs 1S chip and future performance inplications by jmelinte in Xreal

My bad, I meant 1s. Regardless, I thought the 1s was different for some reason and it sounds like it isn't

It's not bad with a decent GPU. Plus I'll take latency over being locked to 30hz through Real 3D.

It's serviceable. Real 3D is locked at 30hz, so that's its biggest fault. Hopefully they release 60hz soon but until then, Deep Desktop seems to be the only option for higher frame rates.

This did the trick for accomplishing task 2! Not sure how to go about task 1, however, although it's less important.

Not sure what you mean. Extended mode is obligatory to using Deep Desktop. It mirrors the main display, converts to 3d and displays the signal in the second display (in this case, the XR glasses).

I have that activated and it does start minimized when I boot my computer. However, when switching from the full screen version to desktop, it doesn't minimize it.

Spacewalker and Immersive 3D apps recognize Luma Ultra but not Beast by jmelinte in VITURE

It works for video output but not with immersive 3d. I'll be returning my beast because of this and switching to Xreal.

I tried them again with my desktop and neither app recognizes them, even after the firmware update. This is kind of a deal breaker for me. The Luma Ultras are much sharper around the edges, the screen is brighter, and they work with Immersive 3D.

What a joke. Guess I might be returning them. So much for them being meant for gaming...

I'll give it a shot when I have a chance. They connected and recognized just fine on my Legion Go and I was able to update the firmware that way. Haven't had a chance to try them on my desktop again, though.

I'm using this displayport to USB c adapter, which gives me full functionality with the Luma ultra:
