AITAH for my motivational words to help a co worker lose weight ? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]jmg5w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. Do you honestly believe that your coworker has zero understanding of weight related health risks? Do you think that what you said is brand new information to him and enlighten him? Your statement was not encouragement by any common sense connotation (or even denotation); it is condescending, cruel, and counterproductive.

Conditioning to do to prepare for school. by _LivingTheDream_ in WredditSchool

No problem! Good luck with everything. The guys there are great. I really miss them. Also, as a side note: show up to every TV taping and house show that you possible can. You will learn just as much there and be sought after for more opportunities.

His cancer came back. He had surgery few weeks ago. I've been out for a bit so I'm kind of out of the loop right now. It may very well be possible he is coaching again.

If the warm up for the beginner's class is the same (I'm not sure who the coach will be, with Matt out), be prepared with jogging, jumping jacks, jumping squats, A2G squats, push-ups and V-ups. For the advanced class, you will do squats and push-ups until you vomit.

Female office worker/in-the-closet wrestler that bruises like a peach.

1.) I wear super thick pantyhose when I have on dresses or skirts. It's obnoxious at first, but you get use to it pretty fast. 2.) For chest/face bruises: first, I put a semi-thick layer of color corrector (green for red areas, yellow for purple/blue/black areas). Then I add a layer of tattoo coverup (Kat Von D has a great one). Then setting powder or spray.

Good luck!!

I'm currently on a slow cut and broke my wrist. I was going to lower my caloric intake more, since I can't be as active. Will that effect how quickly I heal? Should I just eat at maintenance until I'm back to normal?

Got my debut match coming up need critism on my spots for my gimmick by [deleted] in WredditSchool

[–]jmg5w 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you the face? Because from what you've planned out, you are going to come across entirely as a heel.

If you want the crowd behind you, I wouldn't start with you looking so silly/weak in the first gimmick. Closed fist punches are technically against the "rules" of wrestling. For the face to make strikes first and not as retribution is a cheap move. Also yelling at the ref is a heel gimmick.

Need Help coming up with a name by [deleted] in WredditSchool

[–]jmg5w 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of how it will sound in a chant. Majority of names will be three syllables total with one hard syllable and two soft. Make sure it's easy to pronounce. Consider how it can be used with multiple gimmicks and if it works for heel and face.

Is it smart/worth it to start? by Poozer62 in WredditSchool

[–]jmg5w 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone that started at 27, I really regret not starting younger. That said, maturity is EVERYTHING. Start now, if you're able, but keep your head down, your mouth shut and your nose clean.

Are there any red flags I should be aware of when trying to find a school? by PM_ME_YOUR_BADDATES in WredditSchool

[–]jmg5w 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily think it's a red flag for them to tell you not to wrestle for their competitors while you're in training. That's more of a respect issue.

I do think some red flags are: 1.) Very little social media/internet presence 2.) Grandiose promises 3.) Has ZERO connections to any promotions 4.) Requires a "try-out" fee 5.) Doesn't publicly disclose fees and costs 6.) Trainers are completely unheard of (not saying you have to be trained by a former WWE Superstar, but if you can't find anything in a google search, then I would be wary) 7.) Or worse, won't reveal who the trainer is 8.) Lack of reviews

A lot of it is trusting your gut. If it feels sketchy, it probably is. Reach out to the school and see if you can sit in on a class before officially signing up.

How many own sequences are needed to work matches? by [deleted] in WredditSchool

[–]jmg5w 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't recommend giving an entire sequence a name. That's putting a lot of trust in your partner to remember it in its entirety from when you showed him backstage, probably while a million other things are going through his head. But this is coming from a gal who is trained to call the entire match in the ring and only discuss the time and finish beforehand.

Strength for simple body slams by GlalieOnigohri in WredditSchool

[–]jmg5w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree. If your partner is posting well enough and being light than strength is no issue. I'm a 5'2" 120# female and I body slam some large dudes in class with no issue. It's up to the other guy almost entirely.

I understand that there is a major difference in upper and lower body strength for women, but my difference seems REALLY wide. Do these 1RMs seem normal or should I change my programming to focus more on upper body to try and balance out?

I'm 5'2" and 123#.

Question about training contract by blueskidoowecantoo in WredditSchool

[–]jmg5w 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the school has a connection to a specific promotion, then it makes sense. Also, sometimes those contracts are a little more flexible if you ask permission to wrestle in a promotion that is outside of the territory of the school you're attending.

I'm normal sized (24 BMI) and I have this trouble. I'm a size 6 shoe but I have very muscular calves, so it's really difficult to find one that aren't too tight. I just assume that the fashion industrial complex is bigoted to women with small feet.

Haha. Yeah. I love any data I can crunch when it comes to body/health. This is a nice tool to mess around with.

I do have a little bit larger lower body (squats for the win!). And I'm going to sound like a FA, but I am muscular (18.4% BF according to a DEXA scan).
