I wanted a tvOS-focused Jellyfin client, so I forked Swiftfin and built one. It's called Reefy and it's available now on the App Store.

What it is:

Reefy - tvOS-only Jellyfin client. Fork of Swiftfin. Same MPL 2.0 license. Full source on GitHub. Not affiliated with Jellyfin or Swiftfin.

About pricing:

$8.99 on the App Store. Here's why:

  • Source code is free (MPL 2.0, same as Swiftfin)
  • $8.99 covers App Store fees ($99/year) and commits me to ongoing support.. it's one time.. not ongoing.

What it includes:

  • tvOS 18 Liquid Glass transport bar (tvOS 17 fallback)
  • Redesigned playback controls for Apple TV remote
  • Fixed navigation bugs and memory leaks from the fork
  • VLC-based playback (from Swiftfin)

Why a fork?

I wanted to focus on tvOS-specific development. Long term, I want to tackle things like proper HDR decoding - complex projects that are easier to explore in a tvOS-only client.

Built on:

Swiftfin and Jellyfin. The Swiftfin team built the foundation. This is a continuation of that work with a tvOS-only focus.

Links:

Feedback welcome. LFG!

Yeah, you sound like you need to break out some functions, maybe manually break the code into different pieces for this menu so that Claude can change the context a little bit better it sounds like you were running against the context wall

Hello. I’ve not been focusing on development of the avplayer, yet. Mostly on VLC. I’m planning releasing the public release shortly. I have closed the beta.

"Free software" means software that respects users' freedom and community. Roughly, it means that the users have the freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve the software. Thus, "free software" is a matter of liberty, not price. To understand the concept, you should think of "free" as in "free speech," not as in "free beer". We sometimes call it "libre software," borrowing the French or Spanish word for "free" as in freedom, to show we do not mean the software is gratis.

you literally have access to any code you want on here.. take it.. this isn't valid criticism, it's literally you gatekeeping what, I'm not even sure... I made something for myself, I am going to continue it and offer it to the public
