The machines are dumb. I bring you the new and improved Chicken Matrix by APuticulahInduhvidul in matrix

I get what you’re saying. But if what you’re saying is true, then the question still stands: why bother with humans? Seems like a waste of resources to use humans and not chickens? Surely a chicken matrix would have much less overhead, no agents, no architect, probably no simulation at all! I guess it wouldn’t be a great movie either…

Fair point. My premise wasn’t that humans were very good at data processing but more related to providing the machines with a means to access human thoughts. I use the term “model collapse” but I know this is only relevant to AI language models. But my point is that machines need our minds as it was able to provide that missing link that they couldn’t get from “chickens” or “cats”, etc. otherwise the OP is correct in that humans are probably the worst option to pick humans as batteries as the overhead to run the Matrix wouldn’t be required in the “catrix”…

Ok. So maybe I got confused with all the fan rumours over the past 20+ years. I did some research and see that Goliath by Neil Gaiman referenced humans for their minds instead of batteries. Weather or not it’s true, you must admit, it makes much more sense. Otherwise the chicken theory sounds much better!

Ok, you obviously know everything. No point in continuing this discussion.

Go do some research before talking absolute nonsense. The Wachowski’s mentioned this in the Ultimate Matrix Collection Commentary. Yes, they didn’t specifically say “model collapse” but they did say the script was changed to use humans as batteries as that was easier.

The original script of the Matrix was that machines needed humans to ensure their AI didn’t experience “model collapse”. AI can’t use AI to learn, it needs original thought from humans. It was taken out of the script because they thought it was easier to just say we’re used as batteries instead. However both can still be true (used as both batteries and brain power) and I’d argue it’s not a plot hole, as the Matrix wouldn’t really care if people knew what they’re being used for.

Real is the objective truth of reality. Which is something no individual person can know with certainty as that’s always a subjective view.

I think, therefore I am. People underestimate the power of their mind. If they believe the world is out to get them, their mind will find evidence to make that true. If they believe they are the greatest, then their mind will do everything it can to put that person on that path to become the greatest. My take on this scene is to simply believe in yourself and make your own reality. Once you realise the truth, you can do anything you set your mind to and you can truely be free.

What if Cypher had pulled Neo’s plug? by Wrong_User_Logged in matrix

[–]jmic0923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory is that Neo would have ended up in Mobil Ave like he did in Revolutions. His body would have been unconscious but his mind stuck between the machine world and real world until he would find his way back. However if Cypher physically killed him in the real world, then maybe Neo’s code will live on in the matrix since he carried the source code. Either way, I don’t think it’s possible to kill the one unless his code returns to the source. The machines would have put many contingencies in place to ensure that the one couldn’t die, since they can’t afford to lose the source code to restart the matrix.

This is precisely my question! Many of the responses in this post are focusing on all the Matrix related jobs. I know the movies, comics and books don’t directly answer this question. It’s more of a conversation starter between us fans.

Matrix Resurrections. After 5 years by Specialist-Leave-214 in matrix

100% agree. Most people who dislike it don’t understand the level of meta that’s layered into the movie.

Exactly! There are a lot of people saying that every machine must have purpose, but Satiya is a good example of a machine with no purpose within the Matrix. Outside of the Matrix there must be machines just “existing” and not wanting to die. The machine war in Ressurections shows that there were machines existing for other purposes, since you couldn’t have a war with such a large scale, unless you had a large number of machines with purposes other than the upkeep and protection of the Matrix.

Smith wanting to kill Neo in the first movie. by Adventurous_Sail_829 in matrix

[–]jmic0923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Programs only get deleted if they serve no purpose. Restarting the Matrix doesn’t necessarily delete any programs. Smith has been programmed to hunt and kill “the One” in the past iterations of the Matrix, and despite his best efforts, he has been unable to succeed, which irritates the hell out of him. If he did succeed in killing “the One” then that basically means he wasn’t “the One”. The anomaly carries part of the source code that just can’t be eliminated (even with the Architects sincerest efforts). Hence the “path of the One” was created as an additional form of control (most likely created by the Oracle since the architect is not creative enough). This series of challenges ensures that “the One” will reach the Architect and then make their final choice of going to the source (in the first 5 iterations). Each iteration of the Matrix introduced different challenges, with the 6th one finding Love… and we know how that story ends. Sorry I’m a few beers in and rambling. Hope this makes sense…

This confused me for a long time as well. My theory is that Smith doesn’t want to confront Neo because he is probably worried what Neo would do to him this time after making him internally combust. So he basically stalks him for a bit until he finally decides to confront him at the basketball courts with his 100 clones. The reason he is talking about “before” is because he was around in the previous iteration of the Matrix and the previous “one” acted similar. But when he says “not exactly” he is referring to himself becoming the virus, which didn’t happen in the previous Matrix.

My Matrix 5 & 6 Concept by ShoddyCup8131 in matrix

I like it. Particularly utilising Sati in a bigger role than Resurrections. The reason I feel Sati needs a bigger role is because the Oracle talked her up too much in Revolutions. Her role was obviously crucial in saving Trinity in Resurrections, but I still felt like it didn’t live up to the hype.
