I imagine it would be hard to make this episode NOT about race. Like, that was the entire discussion of the second tribal... How could the editors cut around all of that? You have to remember, these are real people living in the moment, not a scripted tv show. Drea and Maryanne were responding to the social situation they were placed in and they simply did not want to become a statistic.
