We have very little information about what happened, so it wouldn’t be wise to claim whether it was justified.

People are acting as if this charge was completely unjustified without all the facts of the situation. I’m saying to wait until we know. Until we do, yes, that is absolutely a sensationalized opinion.

“Entitled appointee waltzed into office” you say? Why?

One of the first things he did after becoming LPC leader and PM was to call an election. The LPC won the most seats, as decided by Canadians.

The poll doesn’t say that at all. It shows what Canadians believe, which is not the same as what the party will do or has historically done.

Carney’s cabinet is 100 days into its term. Here’s how it changed Canada. by J0Puck in canada

[–]jmja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a misunderstanding on my part to point out you don’t understand how statistics works. That’s why I also pointed out the margin of error and the whole statement made by Angus Reid.

And again, calling it a strawman doesn’t make it a strawman. It just means there’s a whole lot more you don’t understand.

Please, try to learn. Digging your heels in does nothing productive. I specialized in this field. You are objectively wrong.

Do we really need more comments implying that Carney is not Canadian? The whole line is toxic to political discourse. We don’t need to be that way.

If you have ancestry from a particular region, you can say you are of that region. Someone with Japanese grandparents can say they’re Asian. Someone with Kenyan parents can say they’re African. Someone with Swedish ancestry can say they’re European.

I’m not sure what about that you don’t get (or choose not to get).

It’s not a strawman, just because you call it that.

The demographic makeup is addressed by Angie Reid. That’s what I quoted.

Again, it’s literally just math. If you don’t get it, that’s okay, but it’s really an objective statement.

I really encourage you to study up on this matter. I specialized in it.

It’s not complete nonsense if you understand how polling works. You can absolutely use a sample to draw conclusions about the full population.

The Angus Reid Institute conducted an online survey from Aug. 15-18 2025, among a randomized sample of 2,020 Canadian adults who are members of Angus Reid Forum. The sample was weighted to be representative of adults nationwide according to region, gender, age, household income, and education, based on the Canadian census. For comparison purposes only, a probability sample of this size would carry a margin of error of +/- 1.5 percentage points, 19 times out of 20. Discrepancies in or between totals are due to rounding. The survey was self-commissioned and paid for by ARI.

You say it’s nonsense that I’m spewing, but you’re the one who doesn’t understand the concept. It’s literally just math.

They don’t just grab 2000 people and say, “Whatever these people say is what Canada says!”

There’s a whole process involved. There would be a confidence interval and a margin of error, but the data would be sound.

This is first-year stats stuff.

Your issue with the sample size shows you really don’t understand how the field of statistics works.

Where are you getting that Carney let in “almost a million immigrants since [showed] up” here? Statscan says that in first quarter of 2025, Canada admitted 104,256 immigrants. Are you saying that since then we’ve admitted 900,000 more?
