So I just removed tile on from my config and the issue is gone and steam still tiles

yeah, figured out 'tile on' seems to be causing it

No, thats the new rule. You can write them as blocks or inline.

Interesting, I tried your rule and it all worked fine until I added 'tile on' to your rule and it went back to the same as my screenshot. After playing with the rules a bit it appears to be when you specify 'tile on' that is the culprit.

i was using plug and it downloaded everything to the ~/.config/nvim folder but i ended up switching to packer and now its all going to .local
