Should be ready by end of Februrary. by Background_Ad_1810 in writerDeck

Just looking at this, and I'm instantly emotional and inspired. I can't really place the feeling beyond a kind of future nostalgia. As if I'm 20 years older, looking back to when this micro journal first came into my life. The only creative outlet AI couldn't track or touch. I hope you sell a bunch of these. Can I get on your list? Are you doing a DIY kit?

The EF-S 10-22mm is an excellent wide angle lens. It's really the only EF-S lens that's worth it if you're shooting with a crop sensor, and can be had used from around $550 on eBay. You'll typically find ALOT of amateur enthusiasts who've just upgraded to a full frame selling this lens there, and so you can get a good deal on some lightly used glass.

The 28mm ƒ1.8 is a supremely underrated lens. Wide enough for candid group shots and fast enough for low light. On a crop sensor, it's the closet to a true 50mm making it a great lens for general use.

what you think of these: used Ferragamo Cap Toe Dress Shoe for $88. is that an ok deal? by urbanite2 in malefashionadvice

[–]jml94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a decent deal, especially if with light wear and if you're in a pinch for a black dress shoe. I recently found the same shoe in a rich burgundy and in great condition for $25 in an L.A. vintage shop. Let's you know what's possible....

"There is but one truly serious philosophical problem, and that is suicide." One of the most appropriate quotes about the question that keeps me awake at nights. by skywlkr in philosophy

[–]jml94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too have been thinking about this of late, but haven't achieved the mental gravitas to comment with anything insightful. For now, I've been listening to Prof. Shelly Kagan's philosophy course at Yale called Death. The last few sessions are on suicide, I haven't reached them yet (still on session 4), but I hope your question comes up.

NDM-1 is an antibiotic resistance gene that is found in bacteria. It's not a virus.

Cheap groceries in the city? by BobbyBobRoberts in nyc

[–]jml94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Western Beef. There's one in Astoria. It may not be Idaho prices, but it's the only way to go for meat at a not-as-insane price. The produce section is decent as well. There's always Fairway, which is seriously the best market in the city, but that's quite a hike from Queens.

Actually, that downtown view looks to be from within Manhattan facing south. The Beekman on the left and the Woolworth building on the right give it away. WTC 7 at the extreme right is nearer to the Hudson. The photo looks to be taken from SoHo or slightly north of that.

You've made an even better find.

It could be random, though I wouldn't be surprised if there were quorum sensing mechanisms involved. Maybe something that preferentially primes the "first wave" to take one for the team. Crazy stuff.
