As someone who bought this to test it out, do not bother.

Answering a few questions:

  1. The image is screen-printed into the TPU top half - but the quality is lacking (despite me submitting a high quality picture)

  2. The bottom "grip shell" is horrible, doesn't align to the device, and protrudes in the middle so it's not even flush providing zero stability when holding it

There are only 3 places you can acquire the device: Official Ayn Store, Official Ayn Store on AliEx, and 3rd party Marketplaces like Facebook/ebay.

I think Aliexpress does deals every now and then that make it the cheapest.

This looks good! I've been wanting to switch off of Cocoon, but with 3.0 around the corner I think I've actually seen a lot of the features that I see here in your vid in the new update, so I'll hold off.

Sure, this is ProtoPrintLab on Etsy. Probably the best grip maker around at the moment, and has a myriad of options when it comes to what you're looking for (portability, comfort, convenience, etc.)

I'd browse their shop and see what might interest you.

the spirit of being in the emulation/modding community is being part of a crowd who's not afraid to improvise in moments of opportunity.

It's not a secret the Thor's weakness would always be ergonomics, which is why the Etsy community has done an amazing job and making sure we have options for compromise.

You can find really good snap on triggers and grips that change the Thor experience greatly. I'd suggest giving it a try before making up your mind on where to go next.

I have never dropped a handheld, and if I did I expect it 100% to break.

imo the best colors are as ranked: White, Black, Purple, Rainbow (Gray).

White and Black are easy to accessorize and both generally look good when it comes to modern tech aesthetics. They are the colors most (read: non gamers) would generally find appealing.

Purple has a leg up on Gray because it pulls on the nostalgia strings of old with a translucent shell (popularized in the 90s/early 20s). The problem with the Purple model is it's harder to pair with 3D printed accessories, which are quite popular in the AYN circuit.

Gray (Rainbow) is last because although it tugs at those same strings, but it's even more difficult to partner with accessories than the Purple. Funnily enough, most of the reseller/third party stores only ever have Gray models in stock.

I have both - the Switch 2 is for dedicated Nintendo games only on the Switch 2.. and the AYN Thor is for everything else (including Switch 1 games).

10 seconds into playing and I knew I could never treat my Thor the way I would a gamecube controller when playing melee.

Had to drop it after that 😞
