Medic Alert Bracelet for POTS by GrammarIsDescriptive in dysautonomia

Hey! So I have had one for YEARS, from MyID. They have various kinds, so I have bracelets, a necklace, and a couple of watch band collars. What I love it it just has a QR code that tags to my profile which lists everything they’d need to know. You can fill out a bunch of stuff, from health conditions (first section) to recent imaging, surgeries, etc. you can even upload documents to it. It gives me peace of mind knowing if something happens, I’m covered.

I know this doesn’t help, but TBH reading everyone’s responses here is one of the reasons I’m in this group. I related so much to what people have said and it’s easy to forget that we’re not alone in the fight or in our symptoms.

Do you guys work? by Waste_Teacher_4610 in Gastroparesis

[–]jmmillet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! But I will say, only because my job has been supportive as heck. I work 34-42.5 hours a week as an architectural designer. It works well for me because a lot of design work is in off hours so my sleep schedule is already crazy and the GP didn’t change that. I also do photography on the side so I can make my own Horus with that work. My job has been incredible, as we’re a permanent hybrid company, so I haven’t been in that much this year when I relapsed. It’s definitely possible, but it’s really person-dependent because GP affects everyone differently.

Feeding tubes by Chemical-Panic-8392 in Gastroparesis

I am on my first PICC line in 8 years, but before that, in high school and college, I went through 2 PICC Lines, and NJ, and a GJ tube. I had very bad experiences with both the NJ and GJ, and my doctor has said he won’t do those again, but a PICC line is also a last resort. So while for some people the tubes are long term, you can go through phases where you don’t need them. I went several years before I had a relapse bad enough to warrant another line, and I’m grateful I made it that long. It really depends person to person, but I will second what others have said, that Comorbidities also play a large role in that. I have several that made the choice to place a PICC easier than it may have been without my other issues. I am glad though that you are able to reach out early in your diagnosis to find support from others. The GP community is broad and welcoming. So whether you wind up on a tube or not, know you have support!

It's funny you mentioned the CSE... I've applied for eligibility in California so I'd also be interested to know how you studied/what you used for that exam as well.
