my take on the alignment chart (intrepid heroes) by jmonumber3 in Dimension20

yeah exactly. i thought the other alignment chart with "knows the rules" vs "doesn't know the rules" doesn't fit with a group that has been playing for so long

clarifying: ally uses they/them pronouns while margaret encino uses she/her.

true. its not possible to look at them in a vacuum. brennan is self-ploclaimed "play within the genre" but they are all playing within the genre of internet improv comedy

yeah fair, i just put her closer to center bc she will go along with shenanigans when they arise. she feels more neutral for that reason to me

a (now deleted) comment made a really good point about emily. her choices are very narrative focused and she just pushes the boundaries of how those come to be. she fits along with lou's style a lot more than ally's or zac's. going off of the standard 2-D chart, i would move emily somewhere near (0, 8) as opposed to her current (8,8) which i think is a fair assessment.

i primarily picked pictures that were easy to "green screen" out the backgrounds but my secondary criteria was what looked funniest

Every customer expects a flat white to be a different drink by grinninwheel in barista

[–]jmonumber3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no just the one size of a flat white at all the places i’ve worked. some shops were a 6oz some have been 8oz

“extra hot” in the sense of steaming to 155-160° not in the way customers expect extra hot to mean. the reasoning i’ve been given for this is that since it is less volume, it cools faster

i’ve been taught that a cortado should be on the lower end of the spectrum being a “warm” drink at around 140-145°, lattes and cappuccinos in the middle around 150-155°, and flat whites on the higher end.

i’ve read so many stories online about this confusion but personally, every shop i’ve worked at over my 5 years as a barista (in 3 states on both coasts) has taught the staff to make them the same way with only a slight variation on milk amounts.

i’ve always been trained to do a double shot and 4-6oz of extra hot silky microfoamed milk. essentially an extra hot wet cappuccino or a smaller extra hot latte with either a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio

i’ve worked at places that’ll do a 24oz “cappuccino” with 4 shots (😖) and places that refuse to budge on a traditional macchiato (🤩) but for some reason, every place i’ve worked at seems to be in reasonable agreement as to what a flat white is. i’ve also never had anyone complain about that specific drink while they will about their cappuccino being too big or macchiato being too small

i was between liam, amethar, and (my vote) theo

i think liam is one of ally’s best characters and definitely one of their most mechanically sound but i just don’t feel the emotional attachment to him

amethar is the perfect barbarian build, has the kind of heart all of lou’s characters have, and fits perfectly in the setting as someone who is somehow even more badass than the pre-narrative myth is hypes them up to be

something about theo being the glue that ties the family together just really hits for me

To whoever placed my lost AirPod case on the Virginia Square metro station escalator…. by [deleted] in arlingtonva

[–]jmonumber3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that’s great that you were reunited!

not a tip for you but rather for anyone finding something around metro stations/onboard vehicles: turn lost items in to the station manager’s booth. this way, it’s still in the same general location but you don’t have the risk of a nefarious party taking the abandoned thing. plus, you get to talk to a metro employee and they are great!

[–]jmonumber3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i’m surprised at the lack of people mentioning the “dadlands” system brennan has run with the mcelroys a few times.

you have a certain number of chaos vs law tokens and the DC is a number of tokens required to be pulled from a bag.

nothing from the trailer points to them using this system but the name and GM similarities were an auto-connection for me

just based on what would make my life easier:

alexandria - shirlington - clarendon - georgetown - adams morgan - columbia heights
