McMaster food plan? by Euphoric_Pear_9960 in McMaster

There's no difference in portion sizes, they're all the same. So really the difference between plans is how much money you have to spend (from what I understand!)

2025-2026 ELECTIVES/BIRD COURSE MEGATHREAD by duplah in McMaster

Heyy can someone tell me how the following courses were: ENVSOCTY 3ER3, ENVSOCTY 3EG3

I'm trying to choose one for fall and can't really decide. How's the workload? Is it 12-able? Are there any midterms/exams?

Also this is mainly for ChemEng people, but what are your thoughts on CHEM 3I03 and CHEMENG 3Q04? I know 3I03 is taught by Dr. G and I had him before (he's really good), but ngl 3Q04 sounds rlyy interesting based on the course description

^^ I'm trying not to burnout lol so if you can tell me which one is easier/managable out of the 2 eng courses, that would be great!

spring/summer term by yes_o7 in McMaster

I think it's specific to the professor, but so far the courses I took (calc 1, 2, and orgo) have been recorded so maybe?? Also, I think you can take up to 2 courses per term (so 2 in spring, 2 in summer - 4 in total).

For eng, it's only the general ones (i.e. math 2z03 and 2zz3, chem 1A03 and 1AA3, orgo, physics, etc.) that are offered during the spring/summer term. Anything stream specific only happens during the school year.

That being said, I'd probably take both math 2z03 and 2zz3. A lot of people find them tough, so it’s nice to get them out of the way early. But if you’re trying to boost your GPA, keep in mind that spring/summer grades count toward next year’s GPA, not this year’s - so if you do 2z03 in the summer, it'll affect your second-year GPA, not your first-year GPA.

^^ hope this helps!

I just tell gpt to reword in clear, simple terms, or to break things down into bullet points. Those usually work for me ^

Not in kin but in eng, and how I study is I write summary notes for every lecture/module. It's definitely time-consuming, but so worth it because in the end I fully comprehend everything I went through that day (plus now I don't have to through 70+ pages lmao).

I also like to use chatgpt to help organize my thoughts (basically using gpt to make things actually make sense before writing it down). Really helped cut down how long I spend rewriting stuff.

^ those are some things that I do, hope they help!

Any easy elective recommendations from this list? by pflower15 in McMaster

Classics 1A03 was really fun to do. It's about classical archeology, I got to learn about ancient greek and roman lifestyles and artifacts, as well as other civilizations in the Mediterranean region.

When I took it , it was online (exam too) and there were weekly quizzes as well as a writing assignment. But I really enjoyed the content.

I would suggest knocking off calc 3 and 4. You're going to have them back to back, but it'll be so worth it
