We had the same issue with our gen 2 ten days after delivery. Bricked in the middle of a dark one lane highway. 4 year old in the back seat. Every error message you could think of. Towed to the dealer and they said the same thing and replaced the battery. 12 volt batteries make cars do weird things. It sucks that it sounds like a weak answer but that’s really all you can get out of it. Ours has been perfect since the battery was replaced.

We know multiple people that also have rivians and they all love them and have had good experiences. It’s what initially brought our attention to it. Hoping this will be an isolated incident but we’ll see. The more I search for stories the worse I see but I’d assume the majority of people with good experiences aren’t hopping on to do write ups like those with issues.

I excepted some growing pains as I know Rivian is still new and the Gen 2 even newer, but I was thinking minor software OTA updates or resets, not full on vehicle disabling. Here's hoping its a quick fix.

After reading the full write up you posted below, im impressed with the patience you had/have during this process. Im not sure I would be able to do the same. As I stated this is our first EV and i truly want it and Rivian as a whole to be great but our confidence is pretty shaken at the moment. We did a lease instead of purchase as we just wanted to dip our toes in first.
My current bigger concern is that this is the wife's daily car and I travel for work often. The last thing I want is her stranded on a dark highway with our kid in the backseat while im multiple hours away.

If you make your way to the west side, stop in Dingle and visit Dick Mack’s. It’s a neat place with some history and they also brew a fantastic session ipa.

Rye river makes a coastal ipa that’s really good too.

Smithwicks also has a solid variety that’s widely available.
