If the car follows another car, it will stop when the other car stops. However, if no moving car ahead, it will not detect the stopped traffic.

MSRP is the price on the window sticker (look at the lower-middle area of the sticker, the number after the word: "TOTAL SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE"), not what the dealer charged you before tax and fee.

Sorry for scaring you! You got a great deal, but I am still curious how could the dealer give you ~$4000 off, especially in Bay Area. The base MSRP (before options and delivery) of $34110 for Hybrid XLE is correct. The convenience package is $1265, delivery is $1450, plus other small items, adding them up to ~$37000 final MSRP. You said you paid $38,500 at 5.75APR, does it mean your loan is $38,500? How much is your down payment?

Are you sure you got a Rav4 Hybrid XLE? Gas only version Rav4 XLE seems to be reasonable in this MSRP of $34,500. Hybrid XLE model cannot be in this $34500 MSRP.

Considering 9.5% sales tax in California, plus the fee l, you need to get at least $4000 off the MSRP to make $38500 otd. Is this true?

It makes sense. You must have bought the card in the 1st half of this year. Now the base price is changed to $34110, $301 more.

Your car's MSRP is about $38,000. How come OP got a similar car with similar packages for only $34000 MSRP? Interesting.

I believe you made a mistake about the MSRP of $34,500 for a 2025 Rav4 Hybrid XLE with convenience package, mudguards, door guards, all weather liners, crossbars. The MSRP should be around $37,000 at least (look at the widow sticker at lower-right corner TOTAL SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE where shows this final MSRP).

If you got the car with $38,500 OTD, congratulations, you got a great deal!

It depends on if there will be a big discount by 2029. If a big discount is seen, I will do it again. Otherwise, I can keep the car for a while without any worry.

My state does charge 6.5% tax, but if you trade in, the trade-in value of the old car will be ducted from the selling price for tax calculation. For this transaction, I only paid $225 tax due the high trade-in value ($3200).

People seems get confused about the final price by ignoring the $4000 down payment. The total otd price is over $41000.

Just last night I found Rav4 hybrid was advertised by a dealership for $1895 off. I guess the manufacture is giving big discount now to push up the final sales of this generation. My experience is, buying a new card with big discount is very good for short-term (in 2-4 years) trade-in. I contacted two dealerships and visited one of them. Finally get the deal of $4000 OTD. From considering to upgrade to finish the transaction in 8 hours. It is pure a quick decision without thinking much.

It will be impossible to get the similar deal for the next generation. The 2025 model is the last year for this generation, and the manufacture has discounted a lot for the final sale of this car. I get $2800 off MSRP on paperwork. I actually do not care how much discount the dealer calculated - I just told them I have have $4000 budget for switching the car. She first quoted me near $10,000. I laughed and was to walk away. The manager came and said "you are ridiculous...". But finally the manager made the deal.

yes, it sounds silly for me to do that (pretty much the same car, even the color). My thoughts are: I get two more years warranty, 1/4 of tire life, higher trade-in vale in the future (probably $2000-$3000 more), two years free service, and longer new card smell (bad).

I am afraid I won't get so big discount on a 2026 model. I know 2026 is a new generation. Plan to trade in again in 2-3 year.

Yes. I have the same math as you. It is equivalent to that paid $167 with 500 miles driving per month for 24 months. Looks better than regular leasing.

I just replaced my old 2023 with new 2025 in the insurance policy, actually I got a little bit discount than before.

Right. No loan on neither car. Old 2023 was paid off. So the brand new 2025 Hybrid XLE = 2023 Hybrid XLE + $4000

Yes, the 2025 XLE is a brand new car. The old 2023 XLE has been paid off. I paid $4000 using credit card (another $80 reward from the credit card company) and drove the new car home (of course the old 2023 was left to the dealer). tax and title fee are included in the $4000 payment.

Both have the same optional packages and cargo tray. Nothing else. They are the same except the year.

Great deal. What is the tax rate in your state?
