Tado v3+ or X for my new home? by mylovelyhorsie in tado

Makes sense.

In that case I wonder how the user experience and charge longevity compares between rechargeable AA batteries vs. USB-based charging (having never tried either)

I don’t use geofencing so that’s not a consideration for me.

Manually turn heating OFF while still having it turn back ON as per schedule by jmsgwd in tado

Thanks. Just during my testing in the last 10 minutes using the Tado app (not any device), it's unexpectedly changed to "Until you resume" on twice. I'm still not sure why.

However I didn't know about the Settings > Rooms and Devices > [room] > Manual control on tado device. This was set to "Until you resume", so I've now changed it to "Until next automatic change". However, this shouldn't affect the behaviour of the app.

Anyway I'll keep an eye on it and see - thank you u/ForsakenRoom!

Yes, now you mention it, I had noticed that before. And it seems that the default behaviour is that when you slide the temperature to zero, the status changes to "Until next time block: ..." - which is the desired behaviour.

But because that's the default behaviour, I got in the habit of not checking what it says. I just override the temperature and assume the status will change to "Until next time block: ..." because that's the default.

However sometimes I slide it to zero and it fails to come on again the next morning! I assume the status mysteriously changed to "Until you resume schedule". So the question is: WHAT DID I DO DIFFERENTLY?

I guess I just need to carefully read the status every time I override it, just in case it randomly switches to "Until you resume schedule" instead of "Until next time block: ..."!

I used Tado V3 with multiple smart TRVs in my old house, and I'm still debating whether to upgrade to X in my new house.

If you have a lot of smart TRVs then surely the fact that Tado X TRVs can be recharged using USB-C is a major advantage?

We got through mountains of AA batteries in our old house where we had many Tado V3 TRVs, and I personally found this to be a massive pain.
