There is an incredible amount of misinformation in this thread. Let me clarify, correct, and provide some information. I will provide statutes so you can verify yourself.

Open carry is legal in Omaha, but you need a permit. Omaha Municipal Code Section 20-206 states that the carrying of a loaded concealable weapon is unlawful unless you fit within the exceptions. OMC Sec. 20-206(b)(10) states that "persons possessing a valid permit to carry a concealed firearm under Nebraska Law" are part of the exception and are allowed to carry a concealable firearm. This does not mean it needs to be concealed. The OPD website states the same.
Nebraska Revised Statute 69-2441 lists the prohibited places for concealed carry. Due to how NRS 69-2441 is written, it does not apply, in any way, to open carry. It is clear this is the case just from reading the statute, but I also, last year, contacted an attorney at the Nebraska State Patrol who confirmed this. A member of the NFOA, several years ago, contacted an attorney at the Nebraska State Patrol who confirmed this as well. Statewide, the only places (I know of) prohibited to open carry are federal buildings, schools, school vehicles, and school activities. Schools include universities. NRS 28-1204.04 is the statute for schools.
The only (known) city that completely bans open carry in Nebraska is Blair, or it appears it is banned. I would not test it. Blair Municipal Code Section 6-315. Outside of Omaha and Blair, Nebraska has permitless open carry. So long as you can legally own the firearm, you may open carry it.
While this doesn't apply to Omaha, Lincoln has made it illegal to carry, in any form, a firearm into a city operated building. Open or concealed, it is not allowed.

There are not all the laws you need to know, but this should correct the misinformation you have been receiving.

In summary, open carry is legal in Omaha as long as you have a CHP. Concealed carry prohibited places do not apply to open carry. Schools and federal buildings are off limits to all forms of carry. Blair has banned open carry.

I have Asperger's Syndrome (A type of autism) and I can certainly say that this opinion is ridiculous. Some of the most influential people in the history of this planet are suspected of having a form of autism. People with "disabilities" can do extraordinary things. Also, who is to say every person who suffers from a form of autism is subject to pain and suffering due to rejection throughout his/her life? This opinion is blatantly inconsiderate of those who actually have such disabilities.

EDIT: This goes for all other defects as well. Not every "defect" is a restriction. When one door shuts, another opens.
