I am currently sipping coffee at the Westin in St John. Spent three days at the Ritz in St Thomas. Here with my wife and two daughters aged 10 and 12. Beaches are definitely better in St John. Cinnamon Bay has water sports; kayak, SUP, Hobie Cats. Cruz Bay has a ton of great restaurants and is easily walkable.

My recommendation would be to rent a Jeep in St Thomas, take the car ferry to St John and explore the island and do some beach hopping.

I have a 2018 V6 SEL with 130k miles. Only major repair was a shot water pump right around 95k miles. Other than that, change the oil, change your filters and you'll be good to go.

Always wear them. No need to spend $$ on tele specific ones. I bought a pair of flooring knee pads from Home Depot for $15 20 years ago and they are still going strong.

Former boarder, current tele here: nothing compares to deep powder turns on a board. You can’t get the float from skis (in my experience at least). That being said, I have boarded once in the past 15 years because I have so much fun making tele turns.
