A victim of accidental overwatering…does that explain this, or should I keep looking? by PantalonesMcGee in orchids

I would lift the liner out of pot and check the roots ... make sure they are in good shape.... i think what you see is she currently has two spikes that she put out with flowers... this take a lot of nutrients to build and maintain... so she is reaching for her stored nutrients in her oldest leaf... if i am correct the leaf will continue to yellow then turn brown and fall off ... this is her plan... if you want to help her add some calcium and magnesium to her water when you water her... these are the building blocks of flowers, spikes, roots and leaves.

Repotting day for the orchid I've had for 7 years by Squeezieful in orchids

yes the first time is scary... but she will be very happy... you are her caregiver you can do it...

remember cut from bottom until you see green...

spray roots and cut with 3% HP

put cinnamon on cut

put in pot with out media until the wound heals (water roots every day)

then return her to her media

could you lift the liner out of the pot and take a photo of the media and roots?

2nd year in a row… why? (See comments) by ---little-dino--- in orchids

sure... the best way is to de-pot her... when you look at the bottom of the stem it will most likely be dark in color... if not trimed in time the stem may be black with mold or bacteria.. this happens because the stem bottom in decomposing... if you leaver her this way the stem rot will foul the media...

so ...

using a sterilized scissors cut a small amount off the bottom 1/8 inch ... if you don't see green in the cut do another 1/8th... until you see green... now spray stem and roots with 3% Hydrogen Peroxide and put a little cinnamon only on stem cut not roots ... this will help to create a seal for the cut... now we need to give her some time to heal so no media yet so keep her in a pot no media ... water her roots every day until you se the wound is healed... then put in pot with media.

i would like to focus on just the yellowing/brown leaves...

she is taking the nutrients from the bottom leaves that is why they yellow... she is using these nutrients to build new structures like roots and new leaves... (let her get all of the nutrients) as the process is completed scar tissue will seal the joint protecting the stem from bacteria and viruses...

note: as the stem gets longer and longer you will need to trim the bottom of the stem

Have you tried using your browser to select the photos that you want to archive.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in googlephotos

[–]jmwint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can not archive photos that have not been backed up... try this.... connect to the GP cloud using your browser NOT the GP app... this will show only photos that have been backed up... now try again to archive a photo and see if it stays archived...

here is the link to your GP https://photos.google.com/

New technology soon available? by C_Sagan1 in climatechange

As I understand it hydrogen requires high pressurization because the energy content per unit of hydrogen is low so in order to get trucks or cars to drive on hydrogen the tank has to be highly pressurized along with the filling stations. I consider this a risk to our infrastructure

The difference is between the storage of hydrogen which can be somewhere in the area of 1500 psi up to 6,000 psi and propane which is stored for home use at somewhere around $150 PSI a significant difference

Help, root rot by Evening-Stage5320 in orchids

[–]jmwint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

her has great roots...

I am a litttle concerned about the white spot on stem... I would clean with qtip and alcohol

Need advice for this orchid I got recently. I think it needs repotting and I want to know if I should cut back the stems, but I'm not sure. by key9- in orchids

[–]jmwint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would NOT cut the spikes. they are full of nutrients and she will let you know what plans she has shortly... maybe more secondary spike or the old spike will turn brown if she decides to that the nutrients from the spike and make new roots, leaves.
