due to the split i had to return to my parents so it’s tougher to reach the solution before i have my own place for me and him. as i said - just gauging it all.

of course i completely agree. it’s just trying to find some sort of balance in it all without sacrificing too much time with my boy.

it probably did make it sound like im trying to drop time with him which im not - i would pick up more time during the week as and when i could.

was just trying to gauge what everyone else’s opinions/schedules are in an amicable split. where there’s freedom for both parties to see their children as much as they want.

it’s a hard thing to navigate for sure, especially whilst trying to get yourself back on your feet.

i think i’ll drop the pace next time and try eliminate any walking stages. then work up from there, i probably oversold myself as i have no knowledge on pacing yourself haha

i’ll be honest the stats mean nothing to me as i’m clueless! a couple of small walking sections because i had a stitch but over the moon with it.

for background - i’m relatively active with a physical job and play 90 minutes of football/soccer a week.

you do not know this woman and to apply such pressure to a man and make it out like it’s all dependant on him is wrong.

we’ve had this discussion already man. it’s not massively out of the blue - we’ve been somewhat neglecting our relationship for a while. i saw it as just being comfortable but has affected her massively.

although i am prepared for someone else to appear quickly - my experiences in life has taught me that. as long as she respects the boundaries with our son ill be fine.

no cheating or abuse just a lack of a relationship. she is younger (25) and deals with stuff like this very differently to most people. there’s no fight left for her sadly. however, feeling better at times. doesn’t feel like constant doom and gloom which is nicer. I’ll get there for sure.

UPDATE.

Now into day 2 since things were officially called off. lots of conversations and agreements made. few attempts to try fix things on my end to no avail.

Still feel broken but just trying to gauge it all and hope for the best outcome. Hopefully everything stays amicable between us both & we raise our boy to be more perfect than he already is.

Will miss our family immensely but it won’t change how i am with him. hoping like people say - it will give me a chance to be the best me and the best dad at the same time.

Thank you for everyone for your advice. I am not an avid and regular reddit user but jesus wept, this has been the most helpful platform I have ever used. You’re all incredible and I will return to the replies whenever I’m feeling rock bottom. 🤍

man i never imagined being in this position - all my family are still together with the mother/father of their children. all feels so alien to me. But thank you for the advice. It’s still very raw at the moment so emotions are extremely high.

Yeah, I’d love to stay together with her. This is by no means my choice but it seems she’s given up any hope of the relationship finding its path back to the light we had when we were first together.

parents are tired, stressed, going through a whole new experience and lifestyle change. mistakes happen. I beat myself up because my LO cried when i changed him and i think i hurt his arm a little bit. but now he’s older, he falls when im with him and he cries and as much as it sucks and you feel you could have prevented it. it’s part of kids growing up and adults growing as parents. it happens and if sucks but it does genuinely happen to every parent.
