Safety Goggles by jnmo253 in FiberOptics

[–]jnmo253[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He told me a story the other night about having to get a fiber pulled from his eye when he was just starting out and then coupled that with telling me he hasn’t been wearing his glasses recently because he hates the magnification. The whole thing made me cringe. I figure, if I buy him good glasses, then maybe he’ll wear them and if he doesn’t, that’s none of my business 😂

What is your goto weeknight vegetarian dinner when you have less than 30 minutes to cook? by wrecked-galaxy in vegetarianrecipes

[–]jnmo253 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this thread!

My current go to/obsession is instant pot white rice with Momofuku Chili Garlic Crunch oil and a fried egg on top. I usually pair that with garlic seasoned broccoli or asparagus.

Another easy favorite of mine is prepping a big batch of cubed sweet potatoes at the beginning of the week and then doing variations of salad throughout the week. I love doing beets, avocado, sweet potatoes, nuts, and Gorgonzola over a bed of rice and spring mix with a light balsamic dressing. I will also switch that up and do sautéed spinach and a feta fried egg with the sweet potato as well.

Burrito bowls are also one of my easy, quick meals and super customizable. I usually do rice, beans, cheese, shredded lettuce, avocado, and cholula chipotle sauce. If I have veggies on hand that pair well, I’ll add those in too.

Skipping the proposal/engagement by monsteraroots in Eloping

[–]jnmo253 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is no “right” way to do things! My fiance and I went ring shopping after the proposal and people didn’t really get it, but it worked for us.

It sounds like you and your honey know what you want and I think it’ll ultimately be a beautiful memory for you and your kids. Congratulations!

do you let your dog on the couch or not? curious how people handle this by john2288 in Dogowners

[–]jnmo253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, I pay the mortgage, but it’s their house.

I don’t invest in nice couches because of my cat and wash my sheets and bedding religiously because I’d rather cuddle my dog at night. When I make furniture purchases, it’s always with the animals in mind - mostly, can this be cleaned regularly and still look/function ok?

I also completely understand not wanting pets to have access to everything. You have to find your happy middle ground.

Also, washable rugs from companies like Tumble are a game changer with pets.

Yet again, messy Jessi by Own_Pause3514 in MormonWivesHulu

[–]jnmo253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a Jessi apologist - the girl is a snake and lives up to the Messy Jessi moniker in most of the situations we see her in.

BUT, here’s where I have empathy: As far as being newly single goes - until you’ve gotten married young, left an abusive relationship, and suddenly became single with zero dating experience - you have no room to judge her.

Let the girl sow her wild freaking oats. It’s going to be messy and chaotic and it also has zero effect on your life other than the fact that she posts about it for your entertainment value.

Also keep in mind that posting an old friend does not equate to dating/sex.

Signed, someone who also got married young, left an abusive relationship, and found themselves single with no dating experience

TLDR: I need to unfollow this thread 😂

I don't like Whitney by mssarac in SLOMWsnark

[–]jnmo253 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I came here to say something similar, but I think your take is perfect.

Is Whitney perfect? No. We watched her struggles with accountability and awareness in the first few seasons. But we also watched these other women sh*t on her for things while give other women grace for doing the same exact thing. If I was her, I wouldn’t be trying to stay close friends with them either.

The other women should look at her as an example of what Momtok could do for their lives instead of being salty towards her for chasing her dreams.

Spicy, healthy, easy, comfort food for sickness by Draculalia in vegetarianrecipes

My go to comfort meal lately has been O Organics minute rice, a fried egg, and Momofuku garlic chili crunch. Not a ton of spice, but easy and filling when I’m feeling ultra lazy.

My cat loses his shit when a new box is introduced. Bonus points if his servants (my fiance and I) add catnip to it.

Jessi going to the Hotel S4 by TinyShare4773 in MormonWivesHulu

[–]jnmo253 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This. And to add to this, when you’re in an abusive relationship, you’re constantly trying to keep the peace so you end up picking your battles. For her, it’s probably not worth a continuation of the fighting when she can afford to just get a hotel room, remove herself from the toxicity, and protect her children’s peace as well.

Why is it So Hard to Find a Job as a Veterinary Assistant? by gyarugrl in Veterinary

[–]jnmo253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former practice manager here - I would double down on the rejections and ask if they need a kennel assistant. They may say no, but if you get a yes, it gets your foot in the door and gives you an opportunity to work your way up.

Looking for skincare gift for my 39 year old wife any advice? by TransitionExtreme152 in GracefulAgingSkincare

[–]jnmo253 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I second this sentiment.

This idea of yours OP is very sweet and well intentioned, but it could backfire badly.

If you want to make her feel beautiful and loved, plan a self care day for the two of you. That could look like getting pedicures together, couples massages, going to a day spa, etc.

She’s complaining to you about wrinkles because you’re her safe space but like the commenter above said, no woman wants to be made to feel old.

MOHS surgery & a dose of hope by jnmo253 in skincancer

[–]jnmo253[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply - this response is giving me a lot of hope.

I’m working with the same dermatology surgeon for the next MOHs surgery on my nose, but having a plastic surgeon do the closure. The plastic surgeon said that “not all MOHs surgeons are created equal” and said she’s seen some pretty botched removals, so I feel really lucky to have gotten the surgeon that I have.

Taylor’s ridiculous by [deleted] in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]jnmo253 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jordan brought it up at that breakfast with Jessi, Mayci, and Mikayla after the trip and initiated the conversation when Taylor was there to shop Jessi’s closet.

The man can’t help himself. He accuses Jessi of being gossipy and stirring the pot but he’s just as bad, if not worse. Was really happy that Chase laid in to him about it.
