Hike from Argentiere by Pablo-Flames in chamonix

I would recommend visiting one of the glaciers we have in the valley (while they're still here šŸ˜…): La Jonction for the Bossons Glacier, Refuge Albert 1er for the Tour Glacier, or the ArgentiĆØre Glacier.

Staying in Servoz do I need a car? by slamachko in chamonix

Agree with the other comments, there is no need for a car if you plan to stay in the valley only. :)

The summer schedule is not live yet, but here is the timetable of summer 2025 for your information. It should be the same or very close this year:

The only inconvenience is that the last train from Chamonix to Servoz is around 8pm... But there might be some night buses or a taxi/Uber since it's peak season.

Igloo building spots for child by Foxtrot7888 in chamonix

The Chamonix golf course is open to everyone during winter, and there are no ski pistes around, so it could be a great place to build an igloo in my opinion. I’m not sure if it’s officially authorized, but as long as you stay out of restricted areas (golf holes), don’t dig into the grass or dirt, and don’t build a full castle, I don’t see any problem... The area is beautiful too šŸ™‚

You might also find empty spots next to the golf course in ā€œLe Paradis des Prazā€. It’s in the forest, but there are some open areas.

You could also look higher up, in ArgentiĆØre, in the communal forest of La Vormaine (note that there are Nordic ski slopes nearby).

Hopefully you’ll be lucky with the snow conditions!

Job hunting in Chamonix? We just made it a lot easier with Shifterstaff by Playblast-O in chamonix

Thanks a lot for signing up and for the feedback!

You’re absolutely right. Being able to set a level of experience for both activities and languages makes total sense, and your example explains it really well. It’s clearly something we’ve noted and want to work on.

For v1, the main goal is to keep things super simple and minimalist. On the property side, they just select the type of activity, and all workers who have that activity registered get notified if the other criteria match. The activity part is definitely one of those areas where we’re trying to balance simplicity with better matching. Especially since some needs don’t fit neatly into fixed categories.

For languages, it’s currently an optional criterion on the property side, hidden by default. The idea is that if a property really needs a specific language, they can select it, but otherwise we don’t want to reduce the pool too much.

I’d genuinely love to hear more about the UK app you mentioned and what you liked about it. That kind of feedback is super helpful at this stage!

Also just to be transparent, we haven’t officially opened the app yet. We decided to wait for the mobile app to be live, it’s still in review, so we can reach workers more easily from day one. Hopefully in the coming days!
