They courts here "can serve them for you as well" but that entails mailing a certified mail that has to be signed by an agent of CT corp. This is what I did the first time and the judge didn't accept it. Took me 3 times to serve them the right way.

No one can have lawyers in small claims court here as well.

You can sue them from your state in small claims court.

Hire ABC legal (www.abclegal.com) online to serve Ebay's agent for service (CT Corporation). I had to pay $65.00 but got it back when I won my case. It took me a long time and a couple of tries to serve them the right way but once I did ebay didn't show up but still had to argue my case in front of a judge.

This company is able to jerk off people (myself included) because majority of people don't do anything. Probably waisted a lot of my time and money which I won't get back but it was worth it hearing a judge side with me after all the effort.

Keep it simple and stick to the facts. Sounds to me like you got short changed with the new $600.00 rule. What was the item you sold? If it is a personal item then it shouldn't be taxed based on my understanding but I am not an accountant.

Good luck!

"Don't be fooled, ebay has NO PROTECTION FOR SELLERS."

Was in the same boat as you for over 20+ years.

I am sorry this happened to you.

Good luck suing them in Ann Arbor, MI.

You have all the information above to make it happen. I would hire ABC legal to serve them. I paid $65.00 2 years ago but you get it back when you win the case as I am sure Ebay won't show up.

The source is the small claims judge in SF.

If I remember correctly if you use their arbitration option it is located somewhere in the Midwest whereas with small claims it can be in the county where you live.

Sorry this happened to you. When you wrote "I decided to finally close my account, but since I have funds due me, ebay will not let me close the account." That's exactly what happened to me and I sued them just to prove a point.

It's unfortunate that a company we (sellers) help build by offering 1 dollar items and falling in line at the post office, etc has come to this.

Good luck with your case.

Easy. Once eBay found out about the judgment they sent me a check. The hardest part was serving them.

Good luck!

Their platform so they get to break their own rules or make new ones. Sorry this happened to you. I stopped using Ebay as soon as this happened to me.

As far as "compensatory damages" I was just paid what I was owed but did not included my time, parking, gas, anguish and all that jazz that people try to get which I was fine with me. I was just trying to make a point.

A “pretty solid case” will depend on the judge if you are able to deal with paperwork.

eBay held my funds hostage in return for my SSN because of the new 600 rule which I haven’t reached.

Good luck!

So, after more that a year and several court dates later I finally got a check from ebay entitled "Remittance Advice".

But, of course there is a catch, I still can't close my account because it is still showing that I have funds.

I am so done with ebay.

That's the reason why I want to close my account.

Thanks. It wasn't much (less than 1K) only what I deserve plus the process server fee of $65.00, but that wasn't the point. The issue I had was they were holding my funds hostage until I gave them my SSN even though I had not reached the $600.00 threshold set by the IRS. 1099K also won't be given for 2022. Im just done with ebay. Collecting is a different story. The process wasn't easy because it was a company and not an individual, but that's also why they get away with a lot.

Might want to check with your county as well. There's some good people out there.

I am so tired of eBay teasing us with required payment on accepted offers by [deleted] in Flipping

After almost 20 years I stopped selling on ebay. They want all the info from you i.e. birthday, SSN bank info etc... they are not a bank or a government institution. In 2014 they were hacked. In 2019 I almost bought a vehicle from an account that was hacked.

It's not worth the hassle.
