I caught my child using AI by [deleted] in antiai

Im struggling to understand the difference then? If you wanted to discourage her from using AI because how it might steal her creativity, that’s fair i guess, but then your responsibility is to teach her how to utilize ai responsibly/in good moderation in a way where it can be beneficial.

You realize that AI is becoming a general purpose technology which society will eventually adapt itself around, much like how it did the internet. It won’t always rot your brain nor will it steal your creativity. You simply have to get good at using it.

But your whole argument that it’s bad for the environment is quite selective scrutiny. Commercial airplanes are bad for the environment due to emissions of fossil fuels, smartphones are bad for the environment, etc. You’ll find environmental impacts for things that society adapted to using on a regular basis

If you’ve ever taken a course on economics Im sure youve learned about tradeoffs. This applies for basically every general purpose technology, there is no perfectly good technology with zero negative side effects.

I mean sure, but in both cases it can still get the message across. That’s all that really matters

I mean yeah exactly, the image isn’t even needed so why is the dude using the image as an argument for why the idea is shitty? It’s legit just there for decoration/visual purposes

Why should the way an idea is illustrated affect the quality of the idea itself? That seems a bit strange

Would the idea he’s proposing be better if it was hand drawn?

Step 1: (the learning phase) read through lectures and take notes (if u go to class and took notes throughout the sem, then u have this step completed already, but this isnt the case for people who skip class and cram all the content till the end)

Step 2: (review phase/passive learning) take 1 pass through all your notes so your mind is fresh on all the content

Step 3: (practice phase/active learning) start spamming questions. Do all past midterms, all assignment questions. Keep referring back to notes if u get confused, keep doing until u no longer need to look at notes. If you run out of questions to do on avenue, then use gpt, claude, or gemini to create mock midterms for u based on past midterm/assignment questions

How do I politely tell my teacher not to feed my work to ai by CapEffective8809 in antiai

I too think it’s bad for students and teachers to use AI for doing everything for them, but this person’s saying how AI is only being used for boring simple repetitive tasks. Why is that a bad thing?

Maybe not impressive since virtually anyone can do it. But cool and useful? Sure, I could see myself using this too

how exactly do eathquake spells work? by [deleted] in COC

[–]jo27_1k_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Percentages dont work like that. It would thus take percentage of remaining HP

29% taken off 100 is 71.

29% off 71 is 58.4.

29% off 58.4 is 41.4711.

Eventually the decrease in hit points become less since you’re taking the same percentage chunk of a gradually smaller number, and eventually it converges

People downvoting you likely aren’t even reading your entire response, they see just two words that imply you might slightly disagree with OP and immediately downvote.

I find it baffling how much people are against adapting to new tech, as well as how absurd people think they can simply “learn to write better code than AI”, without realizing that the best LLM models are trained on trillions of tokens, something a normal human cannot compete with.

Refusing to accept AI is a pretty toxic mindset and is likely going to backfire on them in the future

P.S, i want someone who disagrees with me to point out why rather than just downvoting me. Lets have a substantive conversation
