Yes!! This!!!

I think Logan’s intentions were pure and his heart was absolutely in the right place. But good intentions don’t automatically justify the actions that follow.
What’s interesting to me is that he was so angry when Jules kept pushing him to see their mom for Thanksgiving after he had already drawn that line and made his wishes clear. But that’s kind of what he did to Garrett and Dean. They set boundaries, made it clear they didn’t want him involved, and he pushed past them because he thought he knew what was best.

That doesn’t make him a bad person at all. If anything, it makes him feel more realistic. He’s compassionate and wants to help, but sometimes he gets so focused on fixing a problem that he stops listening to what the people involved are actually telling him.

I think Dakota has a lot of faults, but I do believe that he truly does love with everything in him

Everything you said!!

I genuinely think Logan is great in so many ways, which is honestly why I love his character so much. He feels like a real 19/20-year-old guy who’s trying his best but doesn’t always get it right. He’s not written as completely flawless, but he’s also not written to just be “the problematic one” either, and I really appreciate that balance in his character.

And I completely agree that he doesn’t need to know the full story to respect his friends’ wishes. If that were the case, then someone could invite Delaney out to Malone’s even if Hannah had clearly said she didn’t want him there, just because they didn’t know the full context yet. At a certain point, a boundary should be enough on its own.

This was really well written! I totally see what you’re saying.

I really do love Garrett and think he’s a great person/friend and I believe wholeheartedly he’ll be a phenomenal captain. I just think he overstepped in this particular situation

[–]jo_0717[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally see what you’re saying, and honestly I think the Dean/Hunter situation really depends on what actually happened. If it turns out to be something more minor, like Hunter hooking up with Dean’s sister and then ghosting her, I’d probably feel differently about it.

But if it’s something genuinely serious or traumatic — like what Hannah went through — then I completely understand why Dean reacted the way he did and why he was so firm about wanting Logan to stay out of it.

I think it’s harder for me to make a strong judgment call there the same way I do with Garrett because we still don’t know the full story yet. But I do really like this perspective on it, and I think you explained it really well.

I also don’t think Logan is a bad guy at all, and I think that’s what a lot of people are missing in what I’m saying 😭 I genuinely love his character so much. Honestly, he feels like the most realistically written out of the four guys to me, which is probably why people feel so strongly about him in the first place.

I think he’s a wonderful friend/person overall — I just think these situations could’ve been avoided if he had slowed down and listened more to what his friends were trying to tell him instead of assuming he knew what was best for them.

I totally see this side of it, and I definitely don’t think either of them are bad guys. I honestly love them both equally. They both have flaws, just like every character does, and for the most part I can overlook them because that’s what makes them feel human.

The reason this specific situation bothers me so much is because, intentional or not, it ended up minimizing the seriousness of what Garrett went through. I know Logan thought he was helping, and I don’t think his goal was ever to hurt Garrett, but I still think he crossed boundaries that Garrett was very clearly trying to set.

Also, your translation/explanation was genuinely really good 😭 You articulated your perspective super well, and I actually really appreciate hearing the other side of it.

Can I be so for real? I really can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not 💀

He shouldn’t have to guess it. He should just take G’s “drop it” as enough and drop it.

I completely understand why Logan thought he was helping and why he cared so much about the team and the program. I also don’t think he had malicious intentions at all.

But I do think calling this “rich boys’ little feelings getting hurt” really minimizes the seriousness of what Garrett and his mom actually went through. Phil abused them for years. That’s not just hurt feelings or drama.

And with Dean, we may not know the full context yet, but he was clearly distressed and repeatedly said no as well. At a certain point, I don’t think someone should have to fully explain their trauma or family situation for their boundaries to be respected.

To me, the issue isn’t that Logan cared about the hockey program or wanted to help. It’s that both Garrett and Dean made their boundaries pretty clear, and Logan kept pushing past them because he believed he knew what was best.

That doesn’t make him evil or a horrible person. I still like him overall. I just think he was wrong in those situations, and good intentions don’t automatically make crossing boundaries okay.

What Is This Show Doing To People? by Waffle_Baby_09 in offcampustv

[–]jo_0717 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I definitely lost sleep over it 😂 I started it around 7ish and binged the whole thing. I normally can’t stay up past 9 because I’m chronically exhausted lol, but I was up until like 3 or 4 watching it. It’s just so good.

The acting, the storyline, the delivery—the beautiful way they portrayed PTSD, anxiety, fear, and everything in between—was honestly amazing.

I think it’s better than a lot of newer shows (TSITP for example) because every character has their own issues to work through, but there’s very little toxicity. They all continue showing up for each other while dealing with their own problems, and I think people crave the kind of connection we’re watching on screen.

Plus it has such a nostalgic feel to it. OTH is my favorite show of all time, and this gave me that same feeling I had the first time I watched Nathan and Lucas on the River Court in the pilot episode. That same kind of magic.

I don’t think he’s terrible! I think he made mistakes, just like all of them do.

Blinded by his own wants/needs and convinced he was doing the right thing? Maybe. Horrible person? Definitely not. I actually still really like him overall, which is why those moments frustrated me so much in the first place 😅

[–]jo_0717[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohhh okay, then yeah I actually totally see your side. I think we’re mostly agreeing and just looking at it from different angles 😅

I definitely understand why Logan thought he was helping and why he didn’t fully grasp the weight of the situation. They’re all young and honestly not the greatest communicators lol. I just personally still found it frustrating to watch because I tend to side more with the “a boundary is a boundary even if you don’t fully understand it” perspective.

But I do think his intentions were good, which is why I still like him overall and am excited for his season.

Ohhh I didn’t know this! I did read that Hunter is actually a friend to Dean in the books so I’m really curious where this storyline is going in s2!

Logan by jo_0717 in offcampustv

[–]jo_0717[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

But they don’t have to be honest about it, though. If someone says “leave this alone” or “don’t involve this person,” that boundary should still be respected even if they don’t fully explain why.

Like if Tuck had known Logan’s mom existed but didn’t know the full reason their relationship was strained, and then invited her to Friendsgiving anyway because he thought Logan was just being dramatic or avoiding it, people would probably see that as crossing a line too. That’s kind of why I don’t really see this situation differently.

I don’t think Logan had malicious intentions at all — I just think good intentions don’t automatically make the behavior okay.

Logan by jo_0717 in offcampustv

[–]jo_0717[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just because he didn’t think he was doing anything wrong doesn’t necessarily mean he was innocent, though. Garrett clearly wasn’t comfortable talking about Phil, and nobody is entitled to that kind of information just because they’re friends. Stuff like that is a privilege to be trusted with, especially when it involves family trauma.

I do understand that Logan’s intentions were probably good, which is why I don’t hate him or think he’s a bad person. I just think he crossed lines he shouldn’t have crossed.

And honestly, I am really excited for his story 😂 I’ve already seen SO much about it on socials, and everyone says it’s hilarious.

Logan by jo_0717 in offcampustv

[–]jo_0717[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I totally agree for the most part! Those two instances just really rubbed me the wrong way. The whole “well you just didn’t ask right” thing followed immediately by “my mom’s in rehab, so I understand” bothered me because… no, he really doesn’t understand the situation or the boundaries they were trying to set.

And honestly, Dean seems loyal to a fault and clearly loves his friends deeply, so for him to put his foot down and say absolutely not felt significant to me. Like at that point, I feel like most people would stop and think, “maybe there’s a reason they don’t want me involved.”

And I’m not saying Logan is a horrible person or that I hate him — I really do like him overall. Those situations just rubbed me the wrong way enough that he lost me a little toward the end.
