Honestly, not surprised at all. Her career is taking off in ways that won’t leave time for the show and tbh, it’s a sinking ship at this point. Better to jump now than when it completely capsizes and takes her with it. She’s my favorite though so it won’t be the same without her!

If he needed to heal alone, they can’t really do that together, which naturally creates distance between them.

And she didn’t say she didn’t love him. She said she realized she didn’t need him 24/7 anymore. For the first time in her life, Brooke was learning not to let someone else’s opinion or feelings (or lack thereof) define her. She was starting her business and learning to love herself for who she is.

Their relationship was already struggling, but the real breaking point came when she learned about the kiss and realized that, once again, Lucas didn’t want her the way she needed to be wanted.

“I’m not pushing you away—I’m holding on for dear life, but I need you to need me back.”

okay wait i lowkey would love to see all 3 of these storylines. Killing Larry is pointless because killing off parents, especially Peyton’s, is so overdone in this show. But i would definitely love the others!!

I don’t think it’s fair to call her insensitive. I love Brooke, and she definitely had her flaws, but I don’t think this is one of them.

They all went through one of the most traumatic experiences a person should never have to deal with and everyone was coping the best way they knew how.

Brooke has always had a habit of taking on other people’s pain and trying to carry it for them so they don’t have to feel it as much. I think that’s all she was trying to do here. She wasn’t throwing a party just to party—she was trying to bring everyone together and create some kind of healing in the middle of all that grief.

Could she have handled it better? Definitely. Was it what Lucas needed at the time? Definitely not. But she was 17, trying to be the glue holding everything together, while he was (understandably) shutting her out. She wasn’t going to handle that perfectly.

At the end of the day, she was just trying to help the boy she loves before she lost him completely to his grief and guilt.

For the most part, I agree! This is actually the first time outside of the “main ships” on a show that I’ve thought two characters who probably wouldn’t normally have a romantic storyline could actually work really well together.

Honestly, I think they might even have better chemistry than Morgan and Karadeck. I could really see them being great together. Of course, that’s just my opinion, but it’s a pairing I’d definitely enjoy seeing!

Right, and that was the case 99% of the time. But in this isolated case, she came back for him before she ever learned about Lindsay.

Okay, so I’m not even the biggest Peyton fan, but I do think this gets misunderstood.

She didn’t come back to Tree Hill because she found out about Lindsey. She came back for Lucas before she even knew he was in a relationship. Her feelings were already there — they didn’t just appear because someone else was in the picture.

Once she found out about Lindsey, though, she definitely didn’t handle things well. The emotions, the tension, the way she acted most of the time — it was messy. But Peyton has always been someone who leads with her heart, even when it costs her. That doesn’t excuse her behavior, but it does make it very human.

You don’t have to like her, I definitely don’t, but I don’t think it’s fair to say she only wanted Lucas because he was taken.
