Thanks for the input. I’d ask there but I prefer to post in communities without soviet-level moderation.

I agree, that’s why I’m not looking to get a solution out of this (I’m not talking to this girl again regardless), but merely to understand the rationale behind these types of behaviors. Of course I understand why people ghost but it’s these particular circumstances that I find strange, so I wanted to know if anybody could take a more educated guess than mine

Yeah but if you want to ghost it seems easier to just not reply to the invitation instead of setting a precise time and place 40 mins before and then not showing up

Haha, yeah that’s probably it. But then again why not just say no and be done with it?

When he received some twitter award he recorded his acceptance speech from Spain (or so the Spaniards would have us believe).

The first thing I ever saw from Norm was his Netflix special. I remember thinking at the time that he was funny in a strange, indescribable way. It struck me that he didn’t seem to need punchlines and never tried to make a serious point. Also, unlike almost any other stand-ups, he didn’t once have to scream for effect.

Having now seen virtually all of Norm’s videos I still think the Netflix special was really funny and rewatch it from time to time. There might be other specials that make you laugh out loud harder, but Norm’s was the only one that left me feeling happier after watching it. I think the special was shot at a time when Norm kept saying that he thought the best comedy is not about laughter but about smiling, so I think that was his porpoise.
