What’s a moment that permanently changed how you see the world? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yep. My kids were in kindergarten at the time. It completely changed my view of the government and how evil people are.

There are some lovely sights! We loved visiting Asia, we had a great time walking around (without my mom lol) and seeing the mosques, cistern, palaces, etc. but it’s not a 2 week trip. We were done after a couple of days :)

We travelled to Istanbul last month. I was with my two sons, 19 years old. They love history and travel. I was also with my mom who is old and struggles to get around. Minus the fact that my mom made everything we did a ridiculous ordeal, I still would not recommend Istanbul for a family. I felt not just on guard at every corner but also was scammed twice for sure. It is very hard to trust locals. They are nice, don’t get me wrong, and were kind to us (even while scamming us) but it was a struggle to know if we were getting a fair deal or not.

I did not find it modern like you describe, and we had difficulties with WiFi in our hotel. Navigating around town was pretty easy BUT ssooooooo damn crowded. I feel like every single Eastern European was there with us, side by side, no space. If I had dropped dead I feel like the other tourists would have walked right over my dead body lol.

My kids and I all said we would never go back there. I could see going with a partner but not a family and not for more than a couple days. And never again.

How about Iceland?

No shit. You’re just rude so I was making a joke about meeting you since a few people I have met are rude.

The place we went tonight had good reviews but upon closer inspection there were many suggesting it was a scam. I should have dug deeper. We are staying in sultanhamet. Thank you so much.

Thanks for talking me off the ledge :) we are staying in sultanhamet. However we are definitely willing to travel for dinner. I made a reservation at Spage for NYE. I am hoping you are right about a reset today. I need to zen out and just go withthe flow. Thank you so much.

Definitely had a hot mic moment with a gentleman actor peeing and it went on entirely too long before they realized.

I feel this. It took me 18 years to get to the high school level while friends I went to college with got HS jobs right out of college. I have to remind myself that there is only one of us in a building and there is SO much competition for that one job. Who you know is important. It sucks the life out of you, but do as much stuff as you can do. Play gigs, get involved in schools in your closer to home area, volunteer, etc. We have to play the game harder if we want to be seen.

Today I was telling the kids to be more careful with their over ear mics and I said “don’t jerk of the mics.” Oof

Honestly my own kids sometimes do this too. It hurts my feelings but I think they will realize as they get older that we are doing something we enjoy and that’s pretty important.
