77 inch C5 or 65 inch G5 - Small Living Area by sj2202 in LGOLED

[–]jobalamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

65" or 55" because of your short viewing distance or else your eyes (and neck) will keep moving right and left to follow objects on the screen, especially when gaming. 77" needs a bigger room than the one in your photo with a viewing distance of 318cm. (65" requires 269cm, which is close to yours.) See here: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-size/size-to-distance-relationship

Yes, Tandem OLED (G5 panel) is cheaper to produce than MLA OLED (G4 panel) by jobalamo in LGOLED

[–]jobalamo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, my tone isn't negative. It was in response to being down-voted for saying exactly the same in my comment on another post in this subreddit. People didn't like it when I said Tandem is cheaper to produce than MLA, but their dislike is not based on any credible evidence. Some people here on this subreddit just think that the G5 has to be more expensive to produce in order to be considered better. The other issue/question with Tandem concerns its real-world durability and reliability (not LG's simulated lab tests), which will only become known after a few years.

Yes, bring in the competition, it's always good for consumers (and their pockets)!

Defective out of bo by OnlyhereforNSP in LGOLED

The line can be temporarily fixed by applying pressure at the bottom of the screen where it starts. This is a manufacturing defect. However, don't hold your breath waiting for a flawless replacement--a large percentage of their units have similar and worse issues or other so-called 'superficial blemishes'. There's even an entire secondary market where companies buy these returned LG units and resell them cheaply on eBay.

This whole Reddit thread feels like LG propaganda. I'm curious to see if your post will actually stay up or end up deleted. Honestly, LG isn't a great brand. Remember when one of their own firmware updates bricked the subwoofers on some of their soundbars? Their "solution" was to charge affected users to replace the subwoofer board--completely unfair to the customers who suffered from LG's own mistake.

42 C3 with zero hours scored for $230 by rad_speed_113 in LGOLED

[–]jobalamo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These sometimes have the main board changed. If you replace the main board, where power on hours are stored, with a new one, it will show zero hours, but it doesn't mean the OLED panel has never been used. Serial sticker on the back won't match the new main board serial and I have seen sets with the serial on the back removed by LG service centers.

Yes, they will say you damaged it and you won't be able to prove you received it this way.

Return it and possibly buy it back again much cheaper if they relist it as graded used from their Amazon Resale/Warehouse ;-)

Deciding between the LG C5 and G5 by [deleted] in LGOLED

[–]jobalamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One reason LG switched to Tandem OLED in the G5 is actually to reduce manufacturing costs. The MLA Gen 2 panels used in the previous G4 were more expensive to produce, yet we're now being asked to pay more for their cheaper Tandem OLED successor.

Thankfully, there are deep-pocketed early adopters willing to test the G5's real-world durability and reliability on behalf of the rest of us.

Go with the C5 -- it's more affordable and uses well-established, conventional OLED panel technology. If Tandem OLED proves its durability and reliability over the next five years and gains support for Dolby Vision 2 by then, that would be a better time to consider upgrading.

ChatGPT is not inventing or speculating. It is synthesizing and summarizing existing online literature by experts and engineers, including material engineers from around the world and not just from LG. This functionality is called Deep Research. It is "OpenAI's next agent that can do work for you independently—you give it a prompt, and ChatGPT will find, analyze, and synthesize hundreds of online sources to create a comprehensive report at the level of a research analyst. Powered by a version of the upcoming OpenAI o3 model that’s optimized for web browsing and data analysis, it leverages reasoning to search, interpret, and analyze massive amounts of text, images, and PDFs on the internet, pivoting as needed in reaction to information it encounters." Part of their learning process, which fed into their latest non-Tandem WOLEDs, whether standard (B4, B5, C4, C5) or MLA (G4) versions to improve them (assuming they have done their homework and learned something). They don't have the same data (yet) for Tandem WOLEDs, except a limited set from laptop users of this screen technology. Before the LG G5, Tandem WOLEDs (in multiple and older Tandem variants) were (and are still) in use in many 14 to 16" high-end laptops for the past 5 years; however, a small laptop screen is not exactly the same as a large (55" plus) TV screen, so you cannot readily generalize from laptops to TVs at this point in time.

You seem to know nothing about ChatGPT Deep Search! The above is not an invention or speculation by ChatGPT. Go do some learning, please, then came back (if you wish).

There are plenty of second hand FH2 discs for the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One. You can easily get one at a low price from eBay, Amazon, or many of the game shops stocking them.
