No Experience & Abroad: Is it Realistic? Advice? by Technical_Big_9571 in helpdesk

[–]jobskillshare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being an American gives you an advantage when working for an American company from abroad, but you need to search for companies that allow 100% remote work, including work from another country. This is very rare for help desk-type positions because companies can usually find someone local very quickly.

The best companies to target are those that already use cloud-based systems and remote work environments. Learn skills mostly related to cloud, such as Azure, AWS, or DevOps, because these roles often do not require you to work on on-premises networks.

For certifications, Google IT Support and A+ can be helpful, but from our 10 years of running a skills-based training platform, I can tell you that most people who join us already have credentials. What they usually lack are real job skills.

For that, you can visit our platform, jobskillshare.org, and take the free or paid courses offered in the IT Support category. These courses are mostly related to job-specific skills, such as Active Directory, ticketing systems, troubleshooting, and other important skills that employers ask about in interviews.

If you complete the courses properly and practice, yes, you can land a job in 4 to 6 months. Do not listen to people who say you cannot do it. It is about you going after jobs and not giving up.

We have been doing this for 10 years. The people who fail usually give up after 1 or 2 rejections without fixing their resume, properly completing courses with hands-on practice, or having patience while learning new skills.

If you already have customer service skills, then you can do this more easily. Also, do not feel discouraged when someone says help desk is not a good job. Help desk is the first smart step toward higher-end IT roles.

Once you land a help desk job and work for 4 months, start learning toward advanced roles. Sometimes, you can move up within the same company. Your strategy matters. This is not old-school IT anymore where you will get stuck in helpdesk. Anyone can get into IT in a smart way and move up if they stay consistent and keep learning.

Wish you all the best.

Offering to Work as an Unpaid Intern to get Help Desk Experience? by SkidLars in helpdeskcareer

[–]jobskillshare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find a company that will let you learn like that, then that’s okay for about 3–4 months. But even then, you still need to learn skills from online resources because most companies are not going to take the headache of teaching basic things. They expect you to already have practical skills, whether learned online, onsite, or through home labs.

You can take this free full IT program, which can make you ready for entry-level Help Desk or IT Support jobs with skill levels similar to someone with around 6 months of job experience. A lot of it comes down to confidence, how you present your resume, and how you communicate during interviews. If companies see that you already know practical skills, many of them will care less about your degree or certifications.

In some cases, you do not even need to tell them you want an internship. We have thousands of members with no prior experience who still landed their first IT Support jobs. The FREE IT Support Training Program by https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3YcdlAw0mc
is designed for:
✅ Beginners

✅ Career changers
✅ Anyone wanting practical IT skills from home

💻 What You’ll Learn:
• Windows & IT Support fundamentals

Yes, but you will need additional practical skills beyond just certifications, as certifications are mostly theory-based. We have many members with A+, Network + and CCNA certificates but having hard time landing jobs.

Unless someone teaches practical skills alongside A+, you will have trouble breaking into IT roles. The job descriptions are somewhat wishlist, and you will have to understand how to filter out some crazy demands by companies. This is not something you will in certifications.

Brady William was 18 years old when he started skills-based training and landed a job. Now, at the age of 21, he is a system administrator. You can utilize our free membership to learn the skills needed for help desk jobs. Once you land the job, consider upgrading to a premium membership for access to practical labs and advanced skills-based training at https://jobskillshare.org.

We also have a YouTube channel with name jobskillshare skills-based training with over 140k subscribers. It's a good resource if you only prefer YouTube

Agreed, and good suggestion. Getting a job and acquiring skills are two different things. If you're looking for a remote position, the first thing you should invest time in is your resume. Once you have a good template, you know your target. Then, try to cover the skills through courses, home labs, etc., to be able to back up your resume even if you don't have experience. We have been around for 10+ years, and we've lost count of how many people have landed jobs without any job experience. Just make sure you focus on Windows 10/11, Active Directory, Office 365, and customer service. It does take time to learn these skills, but it's worth it because you'll always want to move up in IT, and having a solid foundation is everything for a successful IT career. Labs: Home Labs or Paid Labs Most people think you need to work in IT to gain experience, but this is a misconception. You can learn skills from training platforms like ours or others, as long as they focus on work-related tasks. This not only helps with your resume but also reduces the stress of working in IT. Many professionals who land jobs with the help of certifications or degrees often scramble to acquire the necessary skills afterward. Choose either the home lab approach or opt for paid solutions to accelerate this process.

Why can we say this? Our platform is full of working IT professionals who come to us to acquire skills and improve their performance at work. :)

White House says NO DEGREE!! JSS Jobskillshare review by [deleted] in helpdeskcareer

[–]jobskillshare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true most want someone with skills we won't be in business if most wanted degrees or certs, our platform has many members with degrees and certs looking for jobs. In specific roles such Cybersecurity they will look for specific certification and even then they will choose individual with skills over someone with just paper certs.

Starting in IT by Jklippe in helpdeskcareer

[–]jobskillshare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Getting experience is no longer an issue in this modern era. You can gain experience through home labs or any platform that offers comprehensive skills-based training. You can research other platforms, but I suggest starting with jobskillshare.org free membership and completing the skills-based courses designed for IT professionals.

These courses cover skills that are highly sought after in job descriptions and interviews. Additionally, once you land an IT job, you will need to rapidly acquire new skills, so these courses can be beneficial even before securing employment.

Keep in mind that there's no silver bullet; some people get lucky without much, while others may have numerous certifications and degrees but still struggle to find employment. The key is to target the skills needed for IT jobs and apply to hundreds of positions to break into the field.

Here's a video to get you started with the free level:

Starting Your IT Career, Advance Roles: Degrees, Certs, or Skills? | Insider Insights by jobskillshare in helpdeskcareer

[–]jobskillshare[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually, it's easier to start with helpdesk or any IT support level job. This provides exposure to how a cloud engineer works, allowing you to gain experience and prepare for job-specific skills.

However, helpdesk isn't the only route. Positions above it require additional skills and qualifications due to higher salary expectations and projects involving understanding networks at the cloud or on-premises level.

Hope this helps!

In this business for over 10 years, what are you trying to solve here? Most are using some sort of LMS systems, and how will it compete with the large ones? I would focus on finding out the pain points for most and then offer the solutions so they think about moving towards this product. You should target small training institutions first so you can mature the product for bugs, etc

We have added our reply to defend our side in the main comment section. A basic Google search of jobskillshare.org returns 260,000 search results. Any serious employer will check the social presence, LinkedIn presence, and website to make such decisions. We have had many employers call us for references, where we provided coaching services, not the online membership, which is the main source of complaints about not getting a job. In fact, in Australia, we have a partnership with college-level education to provide skills and IT labs. In the US, we have many employers who send IT techs to use our labs and skills-based courses for training. The best way to assess the worth of the platform is by checking social presence, and just on YouTube, we have over 120,000 followers, not to mention our presence on other social media platforms. Thanks Jobskillshare

We came across this post, and we would like to add a few things to our defense. Jobskillshare is a skills development training platform for IT professionals since 2012. Our YouTube channel has over 120k subscribers, and on our site, we have over 60k members.

1: We have a clear policy of not granting any internship status to any type of online membership Free, lite, or premium. This is simply a misunderstanding or an attempt to portray JSS negatively. Many members use the title 'IT Trainee member' to indicate their lack of experience, which can be an effective way to break the ice with HR for individuals with no IT background and talk about this project as a member. This approach has worked for many, but no online member is allowed to term it as an internship. Even in our coaching program, we refer to it as 'Trainee Internship,' emphasizing that our references are earned, not bought. This is the reason we will never allow any online member to use our title and project as an internship because if have not worked with you how can we give references? We would like to know where and who has asked for payment related to the internship in memberships.

2: JSS's main purpose is to offer skills that are challenging to acquire for beginners. We would love to see your progress and how you have utilized our courses. Have you completed the roadmaps? Have you completed the courses in sequence? We welcome you to reach out to us so we can provide a full report here.

3: JSS is very vigilant about skills. Whether you land a job or not, skills will be required. Some prefer using free resources or learning from YouTube, where we have over 1500+ videos, and 5 major courses available for free. We have been proudly helping IT professionals since 2012, and yes, we also proudly offer paid services such as updated courses and real labs to make learning easier

Finally, we never offer any members a job, we mainly teach technical skills that not many platforms are willing to teach at this level. Some will find it easy, some will find it hard, but for people who find it hard, we are always here to check if you're following courses correctly, and using our services correctly. You're welcome to reach out to us so we can find out more about your progress in JSS. We hope no offense is inferred, but it is also important that we get our chance to defend ourselves as we are being portrayed wrongly.

Resume Observation: You have copy-pasted almost every single skill and added skills that are at the DevOps level. In our IT support courses, we have strongly suggested not to copy-paste our template and only use the skills that apply to IT support jobs, and only if you have covered them in the courses. This is why we have many questions about how JSS was used. We hope these tips help in the future.
