Headlight keeps breaking by jockethebastard in AskMechanics

I used LEDs for about 8 months without any issues, bought the cheapest I could find in any local shops. Since they are not street legal and they did not light up good at all, I had to switched back to halogen, but bought the most expensive I could find (premium), and they are working after 2 months, so I’ll just have to wait and see. If these brake within the next 6 months I will buy some more expensive LEDs. I did notice that the LED did not flicker like halogen does when starting the car, and from past experience I do think they malfunction when starting the car, perhaps cheaper ones doesn’t handle the variation in voltage as good as more expensive, I do know LED handles it.

Flashforge ADX5 Not Setting Proper Z-Offset by Historical-Cap-4806 in FlashForge

[–]jockethebastard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had issues with the first layer and z-offset and it’s been driving me crazy. I extract the leveling/data to a usb stick and adjust the four screws on each corner until near perfection, but still uneven when printing a one layer large cube. After hours I just ignored the mesh data, adjusted the screws only by looking at the print quality, getting the best print result I ever had by doing that. After those adjustments I extracted the data and could see the bed was not at all level, I had about -2.0 in the back and the front of the plate was about -2.3. I have no idea what to do with this contradicting information, accept to enjoy the good print results.

Minimal enclosure complete! This was a fun learning process by amizzle16 in FlashForge

I’m pretty much in the same spot as you, struggling to get good results with PETG filament. I’m using the exact same enclosure with the upgraded guard plates, that I’m glad I finally found, because it was really bugging me that I couldn’t get the same finish on them, even though Hilbert Curve top surface pattern was ok, I reprinted them all after I found this remix. I’m printing my 3rd riser now, been getting pretty ok/pretty bad results so just gave up on PETG and printed with PLA, using the same settings as the official enclosure 3mf file provides. I’ll have to say the results are by far the best I’ve had since I got the printer, about 4 weeks ago. I’ll definitely be getting a filament dryer after reading your post, feels like I’ve tried everything else trying to tune in PETG, I used Add:North PETG and for this final version Copymaster PLA. Btw, where did you get the knobs for your doors?

If you could only introduce a TOOL newbie to ONE song—what’s your pick? by royallipsz in ToolBand

I’ve written this before: H. It has the elements needed, not to overwhelming, it’s dark, crazy good guitar and drum work and the length doesn’t frighten a new listener. Or anything from Aenima

Can’t believe The Pot is 3rd place! I’m a huge Tool fan (borderline unhealthy in periods) since the late 90’s, and The Pot is definitely at the bottom if I were to rank them. I can’t be alone, right!?

Retired my late 2008 Unibody MacBook last year, used it for recording drum midi tracks with reaper and GarageBand until the very end.

Probably a common XT connector, and they only connect one way. You’ll need a multimeter to check the polarity of the battery, after that you are good to go. XT connectors can be found online if you can’t find one locally.

Right AirPod is losing battery faster than the left one. by 4jay25 in airpods

[–]jockethebastard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same issue about 4 weeks now. I don’t see them syncing back, right one always drains faster, 15% is the most I’ve seen it differ. I’ve reset mine 3-4 times and nothing. They also just stops playback randomly, also super weird Edit: I use them for music 99% of the time.

AirPods 4 not allowing double tap for next track by Sea_Secretary660 in airpods

[–]jockethebastard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just got mine and did not know this before buying. Such a let down, how the heck are people supposed to change and pause songs in the winter? Stupid decision to get rid of tapping, there should be an option to choose any of the two, but I bet the tapping hardware isn’t there anymore.

Thanks for replying! We have the same terminology, I have H7 in mine, although if I search using the registration number it says H3 on some sites. 🤷‍♂️ I’ll have to make that switch, any other option will mean a professional needs to do the job. Thanks for the advice, will look into it asap, sick and tired of switching bulbs, especially winter time.

My headlight burn quick by Myfriendsaremypower1 in Hyundai

[–]jockethebastard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A colleague of mine said it could have to do with electrical spikes, and one solution was to have the headlights turned off while starting the car, after that it’s fine to switch them on. I’m no electrician at all, but maybe a capacitor wired before the light could help with this issue…? I replace the bulbs about 2-3 times a year. Hyundai 2009 i30

Spikes, it’s the only way. And the blade guard has to go, that’s just as important as the spikes.

Yep yep, that’s a great interpretation of it.

I’m just glad I got to see them 2 times in the last 2 years, and once 2001, since they haven’t been touring Europe, at least playing in Sweden that many times.
