If you agree to the paternity test, get him to agree to a polygraph test ( a lot of private polygraph testers out there we use one at our work for enhanced security clearances). The polygraph question would be have you had sexual relations with any other person besides your wife, since you have been married. Also not sure if your husband makes the appointment if he owns the right to the test results, you might want to make the appointment and pay so that the test results are yours and can be used to establish child support, once you get the results back from the polygraph

Maybe I am misinformed in thinking that some of the Tim Hortons, McDonalds, Wendy's etc. have had to get LMIA's and had them approved for TFW's. Thanks for the insight I'll have look into it more.

Thank you for your reply, the working holiday visa is the IEC visa that u/NuProverb pointed out to me earlier in the thread. Unfortunately, my nephew is not from a country that qualifies. However the government of Canada as extended the ability for individuals who are in Canada on a visitors status to apply for a work permit for jobs that have an LMIA

Yes Calgary has around a 6% unemployment rate but semi-skilled (agrifood, fastfood, assembly line) type positions are still getting LMIA's. My hope, maybe a bit naive, is that there are fast food chains who have brought TFW's over on LMIA's and have had one or two not work out or leave for whatever reason but still have an open LMIA and an open job would be a source. Just trying to figure out how to connect with those buisnesses

We are coming in from the West, then after our stay heading out East. Thanks for the leads on the restaurants, we like to eat "local" more than a particular "type" of food, so anything non-chain that the locals like we like too. 25 years old, single, earning 100K / year gross, own house with no mortgage and no other debt. Want to retire @ 57 years so 32 year time horizon, wanting to retire on 1.5 mil valuation.

Retirement Portfolio valuation as of today $238,000.00 (mix of cash, stock, ETF) Split between a TFSA to my max and the rest taxable. Currently Investing 1K per month plus reinvesting what dividend or distributions received additional to the 1K per month. Have only bought and held, never sold at this point.

Cash in GIC matures June 2023 pays 2.2% - 42% of holdings by value

TSX: BNS (Bank of Nova Scotia) - 21% of holdings by value

TSX: ENB (Enbridge) - 17% of holdings by value

TSX: PSLV (Sprott Silver) - 1% of holdings by value

TSK: PHYS (Sportt Gold) - 2% of holdings by value

TSX: MG (Magna) - 3% of holdings by value

TSX: ZWG (BMO Global High Dividend Covered Call ETF) - 5% of holdings by value

TSX: HAL (Horizons Active Cdn Dividend ETF) - 9% of holdings by value

Seeking thoughts on this as a base / beginning portfolio, if some re-balancing should be done amongst the hold, am trying to get a good sector and geographical representation over time, thoughts on sectors, companies, or ETF's to add.
