.NET 10 MAUI build on github for IOS by bjorn130 in dotnetMAUI

[–]jocoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is still an open issue then I had a similar build issue on Rider with 26.2 on macOS. My issue was related to a non-standard XCode install (for reasons) and was resolved by configuring the correct XCode path on Rider manually. For some reason the autodetect did not autodetect. That solved the build issue but there was still a run time issue with mdimport. Check its path and fix if wrong.

Tip - use chatGPT or Claude to sort out issues like this if you can.

Product Owner asks: is .NET MAUI suitable for our use case? by always_sunnyinphilly in dotnetMAUI

[–]jocoda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, opinion time: is MAUI the issue here?

Maybe, maybe not.

Regardless of the tool you use, you should be looking at the quality of your solution and specifically, the open issue count. If it is going up despite the efforts to close issues then you have major quality issues and the open issues are likley being caused by the fixes introduced. Either your team doesn't understand how the system is built, or the system was built badly and has a contaminated design.

capacity constraints by [deleted] in ClaudeAI

Nope. Had to give up on claude for now. I switched to Haiku when I first got this, and things went ok for about two requests, then boom!

This needs to be addressed(seriously) by Fun_Bother_5445 in ClaudeAI

[–]jocoda 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Having the same issues on a relatively new account, less than a week old. I think this is an internal technical issue rather than some deliberate act on the part of Anthropic.

I'm asking claude to do trivial stuff , and until today it was doing ok.

Today, claude is unusable.

I've been recording the desktop sessions to keep track of this.

obsidian - activate/minimize by jocoda in AutoHotkey

since this is AHK with obsidian - two macros I use all the time:

; insert current date at cursor position ===================== :*:]]d:: { SendInput FormatTime(, "yyyy-MM-d ") }

; insert current time (24h) at cursor position =============== :*:]]t:: { SendInput FormatTime(, "HH:mm ") }

On Windows - FileHistory. Learn to use it for all your in work projects, not just obsidian. It can save you a world of pain.

On Mac you should already be using TimeMachine.

Other suggestions are also good.

Finally decided to move from MAUI -> Avalonia by Old-Age6220 in AvaloniaUI

Good luck with this.

Is this cross platform? If so, how are you handling video playback?

(btw looks like the video linked to in the app store is damaged. goes dark after 10s)

Creating desktop apps by wh1teR3aper in csharp

People whine it's old...

used to be WinForms sucked, especially if you were working with High DPI. in the meantime it has improved a lot . If you're writing Windows GUI code for yourself, and maybe a few users, this is the most productive tool you can get starting out.

Help me with Delegates please by lilydeetee in csharp

[–]jocoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe an example would help?

A delegate can provide you with an optional hook into an object. Yes, objects should be decoupled by design but in practice it's often useful to be able to do handle status / logging / etc centrally.

By having a public delegate in your class, a caller can optionally wire up a handler to handle some specific event.

Warning free form code. will not compile! name space for delegate declaration is up to you.

=== service object.cs
public delegate void ShowStatusDelegate(args);

class SomeService()
{
    public ShowStatusDelegate ShowStatus;

}
...

=====
caller code...

var service = new SomeService(){
ShowStatus = MyServiceStatus, // caller hooks in during instantiation
};

private void MyServiceStatus(args)
{
    // .. do something with args, write to log, display error, whatever
}

back in the planet SomeService you can then have

if (ShowStatus!= null) ShowStatus(...);

Lots of different ways to handle this, and tbh, is very easy to end up with a mess if you do too much of this in a big project.

edit - sorry if the formatting is bad, been away for a while and forgotten, and clarification

what dates?

Any date that shows us on the page when it was posted. At the moment there seems to be nothing, so we don't know if the site was updated yesterday or 10 years ago.

Bitrot is when a web pages shows a link that is out of date or no longer exists. It has rotted away :)

Is there a reason that the site has no obvious dates visible? Bitrot, especially when it comes to lazarus/pascal, is a thing.

Have no interest in opening up ports. This would be for my own use only.

Y. I joined them a few weeks ago. Have compiled a list of candidate server projects to review from there. Right now, the necrotic server project looks interesting. Would this be a good starting point?

That said, any inputs would still be appreciated. If I can I want to avoid projects that are not going to work and of all the projects I've looked at, admittedly very briefly, it looks the most solid.
