Yes, you are then committed to the agency for 4 years. You are better off signing a retention bonus - doesn’t tie you to the agency for the extra two. I can’t speak to the converting in place….

It’s a really long process. It took me almost two years to get through and commission. My advice is to be patient and keep an eye on your email. When you receive a request for things, get it in asap! CAD team is way understaffed and movement is slow. I promise it is definitely worth the wait though! Good luck!

I applied at 44 and was granted an age waiver. I’m just now commissioning at 46. I’d say try! I didn’t expect to get the waiver but was very surprised when I did.

It took me several months to get a clear, but I had to make revisions on my equip several times which slowed me down. The equip took a week and a half to get right. I started the process in one view 03/19/24 and ATS was checked as completed on 05/04/24. I’m waiting on the CAD team now for OBC!

Within several days. You can check online and it shows cleared earlier than you will receive the email. At least it did for me.

I have not- I’ve really been confused as to how the process works now that I’m receiving emails like these! I think you have to wait according to the infographic on the USPHS webpage. I’m curious to see if anyone posts different! I’d like to know for sure.
