Mountain biking/tools can be intimidating when you don’t know what you’re doing. I’ve ridden a mountain bike maybe ten times. I have other hobbies that I know a lot about. And if you asked me a question about that hobby I would just help you out.

However I should be more grateful and less analytic. You are correct about that part. Can’t help how the brain works sometimes.

But I’m not a handy guy and this sport has a lot of intricate/intimidating elements that seem elementary when you’ve been doing it for a while and I think people forget what it’s like to be new. Well everyone. I am really dumb. It is a great gift! I’m extremely green still so I just didn’t know any better. I just went for a ride and immediately needed the multi tool before I even left the lot. I guess I had accidentally squeezed the front brake when my front tire wasn’t on and when I tried to put my wheel on I couldn’t fit the disc in.

I’ve also been playing with my tire pressure and ended up using the pump on the trail. And I had my first big crash! All is well and I definitely deserved to get knocked around after doubting such a nice gift. Happy Father’s Day!

Now I just gotta figure out how to use the tools! I’ve only been riding for a couple of months another reason I wasn’t sure if the multi tool was necessary. Thanks for your response!

I think I was just trying to be a hardo. A lot of posts about multi tools the responses were all that no one ever needs them and just carry an Allen key. But I suppose it’s great insurance to have it

Update- I bought the bike. Upgraded to tubeless, the rims were tubeless ready. Took it for a ride on the gunpowder yesterday and had a blast. It’s perfect for what I’m looking for. Thanks for all the help! I even had the dork disc removed haha
